Clothing Converters G9 > G8

I already have the MMX Clothing Converter G9 > G8, but since RSSY's is on sale right now, I took at look at it, and it seems to work in a different way AFAICS.   So I wonder if it may be a good idea to have them both?  

What I mean is that I prefer to just do the conversion on the fly when appying the clothing, like MMX does, instead of saving the converted clothing as a new file.  So if they do the job equally well in all circumstances, I prefer to stick to MMX.

    If you don't save it out to the library, the geometry data for auto-fitted clothing just gets saved into the scene file instead, increasing save times and bloating file sizes (as a unique copy of the geometry ends up saved into every scene it's used in).

    While it's *useful* for scene files to be able to store geometry data, it's inadvisable unless it's a small amount of data that you really are only using once.

    (This is also why using Fit Control hugely bloats save file sizes - assuming you've not saved the morphs out to the library - as all those new morphs are geometry data being saved into the scene).

    OK, thanks.  I bought the RSSY version, will run some tests to see what the difference is in file size, as well as if it does a better job with problematic products.

    OK, did a test with this one https://www.daz3d.com/dforce-victorian-lady-outfit-for-genesis-9 , a 6 piece dForce set, on base G8F.  Created separate scenes from scratch for MMX and RSSY.  Both converted fine, had to fix one minor poke-through with MMX and 2 with RSSY, using the morphs included with the clothing, but otherwise no issues with any of them. dForce worked fine with the converted sets too.

    But Scene File size is indeed bigger when using MMX, about 5 times in this case:

    G9F: 310 KB
    G8F RSSY:  990 KB
    G8F MMX:  4.76 MB

    If the autofitted clothes are ones you'll use in other scenes, you can save them as clothes items one by one, then replace the autofitted version by the saved version: your scene file should be lighter.

    You can indeed save out the clothes (or Fit Control morphs) for the sake of reusing them in other scenes, in which case your scene files can then reference the version in the library (although, yes, you will need to replace any non-library version that's saved into the scene files).

    Thanks @elor @Matt_Castle . The RSSY version automatically creates and saves G8 presets from selected G9 presets, it was actually those I used for the RSSY render.  I assume that's basically the same as what you suggest?

    On a basic level, yes, because RSSY description said it will also copy metadata, which is useful if you're using Smart Content. When I'm saving an autofitted / converted clothes manually, the only part of smart content that is working is getting an easy access to material settings.
