No more "Young adult" shapes available for core figures...why???

I noticed that also today's release, Zahara, has some 3 alternate shapes.....but not "young adult" one like it was for Olympia, Olivia and other characters released around one year ago. I'm pretty disappointed and curious to know why Daz stopped to purpose this kind of product frown

Someone else noticed the lack of this ?

Or they just didn't feel like doing a young adult version, I've noticed that some figures have 'toon' variants, others get heavy variants, so the three add-on variants vary from figure to figure.

I wonder if "young adult" could be achieved by blending a small amount of teen in with the adult morph

I wish they would include the different age morphs again, it definitely added a lot of versatility, not just to the figure but to the entire g9 gene pool. I also wish they would take the young/adult morphs and put them back in the store instead of vaulting them for some unknown reason, that's lost sales and it's keeping content from their customers.

...not sure if Zev0 updated the Growing Up morphs to G9 but that would work

I don't really use them, so for me, I prefer not to have kid/youth morphs in with my adult figures.

It was actually released just two days after G9 itself.

If we are talking about dialing morphs, you can also achieve your "muscular", "curvy", "slim" figure as you want. But they are still producing and selling them...."young adult" and "elder" morphs look like discontinued by Daz. Maybe someone, like me, would like an original shape made by creator for his purposes and not another dial :) Plus, I own the Growing up set for G9 and the results are not top notch, in my opinion.

I'm curious what you're basing this 'discontinued by Daz' on. Just because the latest figures haven't had those morphs doesn't make them discontinued. Snow Queen wasn't that long ago and she had the Elder, Teen, and even Child morphs. It's likely future characters may have them as well, just because recent ones haven't is no proof that they're 'discontinued'  Heck, Tara 9 didn't have any of the add-on shapes, just the succubus add-on that was kinda the whole theme of her bundle.

Snow Queen was almost 6 months ago....well, I hope to be wrong and see the young adult morphs come back soon! :)

What I would really love to happen is the de-vaulting of the character shapes that were once included in the Pro bundles, because the last time they did that, they skipped the lovely Young Amelia shape that I really want to have. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll see this happening again, the de-vaulting I mean, and then she'll be included. I guess she was just still too new back then.

In general, I also miss the younger / older shapes, I thought they were much more useful than the ones included nowadays.

...I've been creating younger characters since the Gen4 days (before K4).

When Genesis came out with the first young adults (Young Teens 5 and later Josie) it made the workflow a little easier but to this day I still tend to favour creating custom characters and have a vast library of character shapes and morph utilities which make turning a full adult into a younger one far easier than with ol' VIcky 4.

I have the GU for G9 morphs, anything past 20% if I'm dailing in the main morph starts to look a bit odd imho. But even that little bit helps to add a bit of variation so not everyone is the same exact age.

I thought those morphs were redendant if you own the DAZ 3D Genesis 9 basic head & body morphs. No character specific customizations but if your need a teen for K-Pop or whatever, they are there.

3 questions if you might like to help out:
    - Is that Olivia 9 YA or Karmen 9 YA?
    - Is that tanline texture default or was it altered by you?
    - What's that bikini on the second promo?
    Thanks!

Thank you for the infos. Own all those products already. Was thinking that the bikini was from Xtrart3d, but would have probably not found it quickly as the main promo does good in hiding it :-)

  • Always missing "young adult" shapings for Daz core figures......Here's young adult Mira in some recent renders I did crying

It's anyone's guess as to why we don't see the young adult shapes anymore, but they can easily be achieved with sliders.  Make the face a little younger and adjust the length of arms, torso, legs, hands, feet, etc.  Or, even simpler, if you have one of them already, like Mira 9's, just apply her young adult body, morph the age and there you go!

I think for the alternate shapes we should get more alternate skins more than anything else.  There's enough products to make heavy, muscular and thin shapes that can be applied to any model.  I like the extra addons with Lianna 9-the blue and undead skins are actually pretty cool, thematic and make it more worthwhile.

...for young adult and teen females having a separate breast morph utility helps a lot as I've noticed the base adult female characters load in fairly well (in some cases "over") "endowed" (evne ones that appear more slender in the promos). .  I have several including Zev0's Breast Control, Soto's Breast Utilities, and SF-Designs Girls for G8F (the latter which has individual beast adjustments).

Oh yes, many models come pretty well endowed.  And there's plenty of products available to, uh, highlight that fact, too.

Luckily, it's all easily changable with all the products you listed, and many more!

...indeed it takes a bit of work and a  degree of expense to build a set of tools that works without causing distortion of he base mesh whcih can affect clothing fits.

Sadly detailed textures like stripes, plaids, polka dots, gingham and text are apparently designed with the Genesis default bust size in mind and often warp badly on characters with more petite builds.

In the image attached below I had to substitute another texture (which wasn't even meant for clothing) to get something that still had the "period look" and didn't distort.  Also attached was the original texture I wanted to use, but on the character's build (a "Twiggy" type physique after the 1960s model of the same name) it warped badly even trying to fix it with Zev0's Projection Morph Manager and Fit Contrtol utilities.
