I'm surprised that nobody has proposed a Star Trek render yet. Pretty cool show and there is a lot of Star Trek-related freebies around. Perhaps it is too easy... Anyhow, here you have one.

Scotty beams us up !!

Kirk and Spock are both M4.The list of freebies:
1. Nicholas for M4 (Kirk's morph)*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/38154/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Nicholas-for-M4-Part01
2. George for M4 (Kirk's teture)*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/60141/View/11/Poser/George-for-M4
3. Star Trek TOS for M4 Valiant (uniforms for both Kirk and Spock)*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/40186/View/11/Poser/Star-Trek-TOS-for-M4-Valiant
4. TOS TriCommunicator (on Kirk's Hand)*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/46645/View/11/Poser/TOS-TriCommunicator---UPDATED

9. Steampunk Star Trooper (I've only used the helmet and the robot, perhaps remains of a previous unlucky explorer)**: http://www.sharecg.com/v/46067/View/11/Poser/Steampunk-Star-Trooper
10.Phaser Mk 2 (on Spock's hand): http://browse.deviantart.com/?qh=§ion;=&q=phaser+mk+2#/d4tjmv1
11.Hobobo"s Space Cyclorama texture*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/22312/View/11/Poser/Space-Cyclorama-texture
12.Tyrannopendra for DAZ & Poser (the big bad monster)*: http://www.sharecg.com/v/64553/gallery/11/Poser/Tyrannopendra-for-DAZ-Poser

* means registration needed
** means registration needed and item requested by the contest rules

What were you doing in '79?

Drugs.

You too? Wow, small world. Actually, I was doing the drugs and the drinking, dat's why I neva' finished col'edge. '74 to '85 was pretty much a murky blur for me...

None the less, Dollygirl! Buck Rogers? Really? I never would have guessed! That's a helluva render, by the way. Better than the show actually was! I was always a bigger Flash Gordon fan that I was of Buck Rogers, the original strips anyway. Just about every attempt to translate either one of them into live action, animation or (yuck) role-playing games failed miserably in my opinion. The 1980s were not exactly the highest point in television or film science fiction.

Music: I think you decision to place on hiatus the idea of a featured freebie provider is probably a good one. It wasn't that it was a bad idea, but maybe not strong enough to build a whole month's worth around. However, an option you may want to consider and put up for a vote among us (or however you'd like to couch it) is in any given month hold a mini-contest with a featured provider to create a single render related to the theme of the month. It might be worth a though or two.

And, to weight in on the whole gift certificate/voucher thing...whatever. I'm not worried about it myself. Like I keep saying over and over, I do it for fun and the occasional pat on the head. It's a great way to keep my old artistic skills in practice and just to remind myself that I've still got a little something left in me.

That being said, Kendall's idea of a DAZ prize pool dose have merit and is worth investigating...

In 1979 I was touring the globe. You would think that being a musician, I would have been doing the drugs too, but just the opposite. First, my responsibilities as a professional would not allow me to keep the show together and do drugs. Second of all, traveling so fast, where would one get them? Third, if one could get them, the risk was just too great. So, I invested money into fine foods and yard sales...lol.

As I stated before, ideas will come and go, so let's not worry about the featured freebie and concentrate on new ideas and new render entries....oh....and fun!

:-)

While googling for something else I came across this image, which is just crying out for some "LOLCat" type slogans and post work, and very much in them with this months Challenge.

1979........Hmm what was I doing then, had been married for a year to my 2nd husband (he was the Welsh one) and that year I visited Wales for the first time, and fell in love with the country that I now live in (with number 3) I think we did actually still have a TV in 1979, but it would have been B&W.

Good one TJohn

Krissy, from what all the teccy types around are saying, don't bother with upgrading to Win8. They reckon it's going to be another DODO, like Vista was.
