What is the favorites menu supposed to do?

If I select an item in the smart content and right click is see an option for "Add to favorites". I select it and nothing seems to happen. I then click on the favorites menu and there is nothing there. I would assume that selecting "add to favorites" would add the itemn to the menu but it doesn't.

It is just a new feature with a new Category : Favorites since 4.22. On the left in your first screenshot, or you go back to the main page of Smart Content, you'll see "Favorites" category on the left...

Ah, I see. So the favorites menu doesn't do anything yet?

The favourites menu can be populated via the Create Custom Action command in the same right-click menu (it was added as an alternative to Scripts, since content is not generally a script and it serves to keep tools and content separate).

Ah ha! gotcha I see how it works now. Thanks.

As an side, is there anyway to edit the scripts and favorites menu? Remove things or change their order?

Press F3, Menus tab on the right, you can find Favorites and Scripts menus under Main Menu Bar, drag the submenu item to re-order, or RMB click to Remove...

The Favorites feature needs a rework - it's way too complicated for what it should do.
    It should be simple:

    1. Add to favorites
    2. Open favorites
    3. Click and go to the item

Instead, it's overly complex and not user-friendly. Most users probably skip using it completely because it's more trouble than it's worth.
