The Five and Dime.

Daz 3D store needs a new category of items for sale.

Very simple single items someone might want.

Examples - a pack of cigarettes, a basketball, a simple knit cap, a mic

Really really simple things.

and sell them for $0.05 each if you are a subscriber and $0.10 each if your not.

Small simple items, newspaper, waste paper can, soda machine.

Stop hating Blender and use it to make a few things.  You will soon see that the work needed to make even a simple product would warrant more than a 10 cents price tag.

  • I would have to agree with Jestmart- you can bundle 20 items together and sell them for $10- excluding the usual discounts. That said, I like the idea of a sub section of the store where you can buy smaller/cheap items- say $0.50 before discounts. I imagine that the problem is the paypal transaction fees would no longer make it feasible.

  • Maclean has several reasonably priced sets of various "Everyday" items in his store: http://www.daz3d.com/maclean

If I were to charge for a number of my freebies, it would be more than a dime.

My most downloaded freebie, has over the past 3 yrs, at a dime each probably paid back the time it took to make...but if I was selling it, I'd definitely want that a lot sooner than 3 yrs.

Besides, there is a huge number of freebies available that fill the exact slot you want to fill with low priced items.  So, even at a dime each they wouldn't sell...or all the freebie makers would try to get in on the deal and flood the market.

  • well I just pulled 5 and 10 out of the air, could be .50 and 1.00

point being, cheap simple single items :-)

sorry, me and blender are not on speaking terms :-P

What you have to remember is the overheads to get a product into the store. Not just the labour costs of the PA, there are also costs for QA, making the Daz Installer, setting it up for DIM, setting it up for the store  etc etc

  • Also, there are a number of freebies that provide the items you're talking about.  There are also other programs besides Blender.  For free ones, some people still use Wings, MilkShape...you can look around and try them out.
