Collada Export

I have a question about the morphs when exporting the model in Collada format. Exactly what does the "bake"/"export" labels mean in regards to saving morphs?

I would expect Bake to change the base shape to include the morphs' effects and export to keep them as morphs. However, given that I've had very little success reading Collada files into the few applications I have that read the format and haven't even tried recently I can't be definite.
