Opacity issue loading objects

Hi,

I am lost.

This is a real nasty problem I am facing for almost half a year now, and since september I have not received any solution from Daz , so let's see if anyone here knows what to do.

Loading a figure, an environment, glass, wardrobe items results directly in respectively white eyes and black eyelashes,  leaves grass and treas that have like paper stuck to them, non-transparent windows and clothing that is always shiny.

Horrible, all of a sudden all looks bad

one reason is that the system sets opacity to 100 percent. Setting it to 0 also doesn't work for all stuff

I have sent logs and video but in 4 months nobody came up with any solution.

So here I am, can anybody please tell me how I can make Daz to load texture and surface sett8ngs like they are supposed to be loaded.

Many thanks

In order to troubleshoot it is best to work with as simple a setup as possible to generate the problem.

You are not listing which products you are using and an image of what you are seeing.

  • This sounds as if you are importing the OBJ files for content, with the limited options in the associated MTL file meaning that you get no advanced settings, rather than loading native content or even importing Poser content in a way that preserves at least the basic materials.

This sounds like your using textures with Alpha channels, if that is the case then DS has never been able to use Alpha channels directly. The Layered Image Editor (LIE) can use use the Alpha channnels, as can the Image Editor in the Surfaces tab, you can also use the Shader Mixer to split the RGB and A, but only if you are using the 3Delight renderer.

Screenshots + named products are always better than thousands of words, otherwise we only have to guess...

  • First of all, thanks for your reactions.

The problrm occurs with, for instanve, any G8* and G9* figure, original textures, out of the box. The opacities are set to 100. For Iris, eye moysture etc, for instance.

When loading a forresr product like forrest lake, grass and leaves are displayed as pie es of coloured paper, since the opacity is 100.

When loading e.g. perouge village, the wimdows are non tranparent.

All Daz products,, worked fine until september. And DAZ does not come up with a solution since then. I have sent them screen shots, the log and a video recording

    Perhaps too difficult?

Many thanks , I hope that someone solved a similar issue

Daz are not at your beck and call to help every user make renders...

If you have screenshots, videos etc, why not post them here...

Anyway, the problem is you are in Smooth Shaded drawstyle. So just change to a different drawstyle.

  • 100% Opacity is usually needed if there is an opacity map aplied (black on the map is always fully transparent, white is the maximum value set for the property).

  • This is all in NVIDIA drawstyle

Please zoom in on the ehad, so that the breasts are not visible.

Theer should be maps applied to the Cutout Opacity (the colour chip is the maximum, that is then multiplied by the colour of the map at that point to give a final opacity value - so black areas of the map have 0 opacity).

your graphics card is probably too slow, so NVIDIA iray preview is still in smooth shaded.

  • It worked fine until September and the opacity setting upon loading at least is of mayor influence
  • It s an RTX 4070
  • See below another example. The shininess of the clothing is another issue that popped up

"Another example". Isn't that the first example?

Default opacity setting for most surfaces is usually 100%. So i think you should stop attributing the problem to 100% cutout opacity.

    1. re-apply material presets for eyes and clothes and if you have been playing around with Surfaces tab, stop messing with those settings.
    2. If still issues, show picture of Surfaces pane for eyelashes/eye surfaces and clothes. You also mentioned leaves and windows having this issue, so you could show images of Surfaces pane for windows/leaves.
    3.  Substances like windows and the top layer of the eyes are usually controlled by 'refraction' while eyelashes and leaves are controlled by opacity.  So if there is an issue with leaves, eyelashes and also refractive surfaces like windows and eyes, then those are two completely different rendering issues - not all opacity-related. So may need to try reinstalling NVIDIA studio driver for your graphics card.
