Customizing Smart Content?

Hey there everyone!

I was wondering, is there a way to customize the Smart Content folders to make it more to my liking?

Example:

When I click on figures, it displays all the figures I own as well as some premade presets, like the dragonslayer or the surfer guy and so on.

What I would very much prefer is if it displayed only the ones I specify, and the rest would be hidden in some subfolder under "Figures" so the "Figures" window would not be flooded with figures I never/rarely use.

Is this doable? I have not found such option in DS so far.

If it can' t be done, don' t you think it would be a nice feature to have for the Smart Content?

I think something like this could be done in the Content Library but I very much prefer the Smart Content window : )

Let me know what you think!

  • This sounds more like a job for categories. You can adjust Smart Content, but any update will I think reset it.

Yeah, that's a job for creating your own Categories outside of Default and filing away your assets the way you like.

I had started this process a while back, but never got around to finishing.  Its a good idea to plan your structure first, that way you don't have to re-do your work when you figure out you've forgotten something.

I'm probably going to be doing this... I want more Theme type classifications with Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Contemporary, etc.  Just have to figure out my top-level stuff first.

I don't have problems with the top level -it's the next one down that drives me nuts! For example, I keep waffling between Critters -> (air, land, water, space) -> (real, fantasy, electronic) and Critters -> (real, fantasy, electronic) -> (air, land, sea, space) - but database space is cheap, so I'm tending to do multiple categories.

Yeah, but its always easier to add second/third level stuff than top level. My goal this time is just to get it down with a little simplicity and elegance and be done with it :)
