Nvidia IRay With Nvidia Optimus (Intel GPU for Screen, Nvidia GPU for Render)

Hi, I am looking at a Core i7 Skylake gaming laptop with Nvidia 970M. Lord willing I will be able to sell my MacBook Pro 15" Retina to obtain it so I can work on Daz3D with IRay.
My question is from what I've seen with Nvidia Optimus one can run Windows with the Intel GPU and then specify which apps will use the Nvidia GPU.
With Daz3D, I am assuming we can "set" Daz3D and Windows to use the Intel GPU. Then in the IRay selector choose the Nvidia GPU to render IRay.
This way one can have a smooth Daz3D and Windows experience while the Nvidia GPU is working. Since currently with only one GPU in a desktop or laptop when rendering the rest of Windows slows down quite a bit (as expected).
Am I correct in my assumptions? Is anyone using Nvidia Optimus with Daz3D and IRay in this fashion? Do let me know, thanks.

Yes, that's correct, that's how I have mine set up. If you want to use the Aux Viewport in Iray mode, though, you'll want the NVidia GPU for DS.
Cool, thanks for the info. :)
I don't have a notebook but I don't think you need NVidia Optimus to do this. On a Desktop machine you can do this from the Render Settings>Advanced tab.
Hmm on my new laptop with Nvidia Optmius it seems to be having issues, there's a lot of lag in the dialog boxes. My older non-Optimus laptop doesn't have this issue. Windows 10 64-bit latest with latest Intel and Nvidia drivers. Anyone else experiencing this?
Are you sure a laptop is the best bet for rendering, given your circumstances?
Actually it's surprisingly alright for Blender Cycles (even on a 950M) for environments eg. exported out of Daz3D. For Daz3D Iray on a Nvidia 660M for characters it has been good, I'm having issues with Nvidia Optimus as above but I might be able to use the 660M laptop for posing etc. and the 950M laptop for final renders. They're both gaming laptops so their built to withstand quite a bit of heavy use.
