weird little experiment with the foliage maker, used some glowing spheres as foliage isntances and let it grow on the torus, changed the stem material to a metal, shrunk the foliage into the tourus except for the middle part and then turned the torus material to water
I looooooooove this experimanet Linwelly... Have you tried using it as eyeball textures???? I bet it would look great! hint hint ;)
I actually was thinking about that but didn't get to that yet
Please show me/us when you get something rendered... I'd love to see it... ooo and make it spooky for brownie points from me :)
Here's another new one for today as I continue to plow through the giant pile of "new stuff" from last month. Technically, the hair I had gotten a bit earlier but hadn't done much with it yet.
The image is kind of fascinating, paulawp.
parrotdolphin's shaders are really great; too bad you get them so rarely.
And who is the interesting young woman in the picture?

Thanks! She is one of my custom creations. There's a bunch going on in creating her; I can blather if there's any interest, or shush if not.

For sure, please share! If I remember right, you use face transfer to create a lot of your characters and their textures, right? And now you're also applying the 1-click PBR to them (I'm starting to use that one a lot more now - it's really useful for some situations). Do you use face transfer to create more unique looking characters or for specific looks you want? Are they all for your story characters? Okay that's a lot of questions - but I'm always interested about these things...

I would be happy if you don't keep quiet ;-) Like many others here, I use the vast majority of characters mainly as starting points for my own creations; so of course I'm interested!

Just the short backstory ... I started using Daz in summer 2021 for the sole purpose of doing better things with the Artbreeder images I'd been creating since the previous year. I had started creating them for characters in a book series I'm working on. So that's what my whole Daz career has ultimately been about. I've tried a lot of products and ideas over that time, with varying success. (Obviously learning Daz itself is no small task and ... um ... buying Daz stuff becomes a whole hobby in itself. )
At the moment, I'm deciding whether to use G8 or G9; for now, I create characters in both versions. This one is G8.1.
So the latest steps I'm doing are to use Face Transfer -> G8.1 for the shape and FaceGen on the same source file to create the textures. The reason I do this is because I like the Face Transfer-originated shape best of all the alternatives (I have/use them all), but I am sufficiently convinced by practical testing that FaceGen does a noticeably better job of handling the shadows and highlights on source images. FaceGen also allows you to use different texture files than the default, and I've been tinkering with that lately - for this character, I had FaceGen use Cailin for G3 as a starter skin.
There's a ton of small, boring nuts-and-bolts steps but put shortly, I create the shape on a stock G8.1, then apply the mat files of a commercial G8 character just to set all those basic surface settings. After that, I manually replace the diffuse, translucency, etc, with ones for my character. I had been manually creating translucencies and the other files, but this test character, like the last couple of G8 ones I've made, had translucencies created from 1-Click-PBRSkin.
OK, now I'll shush, so as not to derail the thread ...
Just to switch up a little, only store-bought characters here. (True, I only bought them at these most fabulous PA sale prices for their skins ... but Jack at least gets one shot in my gallery.) I had this new boat and these cool rocks and thought, what can I do with these?
Thanks for sharing paulawp - it's very interesting to know your process and read how much goes into it! Well, I was inspired to try FaceGen once more yesterday for the one or two characters I got it for in the first place, but wow, it was a hot mess. I'm totally impressed how you've created a great workflow with it and are able to create such nice characters! Your Jack render is great btw - the rocks, sea and lighting brings it together really well!
GinaMarie Lovely renders, especially how you bring together jewelry and props from different packs together harmoniously using shaders. Nicely done!
So this is Miss Red, a custom G8 I did a song and music video with. She seems to want to star in more and have a few more tracks written to suit. So I ended up getting FM glowing things and a G8 robe for her during the PA sale for this type of scene set-up that might one day lead to a song and work as the setting for a music video. Inspiration works in mysterious ways?! Just a little bloom added to this one in post - in-DAZ bloom seemed too soft for this render.
Still from the PA sale... Liam and his GimpSuperhero Suit. Not entirely happy with what the light does with his skin here, but I do like his sharp features.
Edit: oh, you already found them, I thought your second message was a mistake and didn't read it before replying.
Ha.. yes.. that's ok... I should have looked before I wrote... but I guess my brain was still asleep... lol. I probaby bought the shirt... grrrrrrr... should have waited... not even used it yet... Oh well.. I best git back to renderin'... lots to create in my brain! Thanks for the headzzzzzzzzzzz up!
All snow effects were made with Let It Snow, which I got in the sale last month. Landscape and columns are originally without snow. Only added blur, haze, and colour correction in post. I'm quite impressed with the product!
Did anyone pick up https://www.daz3d.com/es3d-thalius-hd-for-genesis-9 - I got him purely based on the fourth promo image in the leather singlet thing. I'm on holidays away from my 3D machine, so if anyone has time to render him I'd love to see! Also picked up a few wishlist items that he and the door-buster made very cheap, even though I was trying to avoid the PA sale.

Thank you, Predatron, for the LoRez Gazelle. It even accepts poses from the old Daz Buck with minimal adjustments.

M4 character, transferred to G8.1. I don't know why I do this to myself. But hey, here's Caleb, the pouty warrior.
His chest hair is magnificent!
I think that's the main reason why I bought him!
you could transfer the morph and the skin?

There are fantastic images here. I picked up some stuff to use for Halloween since it is October.
I don't know if this count.
Free character, with free hair, cloth and pose and some small tweaks.
I tried to simulate the hair, but that didn't really go as planned...
ooo I love that top... Do you have a linky to the character set? pleeeeeeeeease
You should be able to find the four items here:
