It was working previously, but the latest update (on 7/20) installs the Figure Converter plugin to the wrong directory on macOS.

It should be installing it into:   "Daz 3D/DAZStudio4 64-bit/plugins/"

But instead it's installing it into:  "Daz 3D/DAZStudio4 64-bit/4studioAppDirDataOk/plugins/"

The incorrect path is causing the convert menu to not link in Daz, and the plugin won't work at all.

Same thing is true on Windows. The July 20 update is installing into  "C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\4studioAppDirDataOk" instead of C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4\

The "4studioAppDirDataOk" directory should not be there. Moving the subdirectories out of that directory allows the programs to show up in the Convert menu and to work.

I actually did find an issue with the converter.

If you convert characters with a changed size like 95 or 102% the teeth get misaligned. I have a 92% character which looks like Freddie Mercury right now. laugh

I installed an update this afternoon (CDT US) and everything installed fine. My Daz Studio location is non-standard.

I converted a V7 based character to G9 Feminie and the process worked perfectly. I saved the result as a character preset without issue.

Fabulous job. Non of the previous character converters have worked as well or as simply.

I was wondering if I could copy over K.M.Image Ultimate natural body morphs over as well?

It would be an insta-buy from me as the solitary thing holding me back from using G9 exclusively is that I'm waiting for K.M.Image studio to bring their product to G9.

Thanks in advance for any info you can share!

The 7/21 update fixes this and installs to the correct place on macOS.

And the plugin itself is really nice.  ManFriday's Figure Converter seems to do a much better job of converting complex blendshapes than other plugins i've tried.

Hmmmm...if I have to manually adjust the rigging in the arms and hands with every conversion, I'm not so sure how useful this tool is going to be.  I have a huge number og G3 and G8 figures, and if I cant convert them without a lot of manual work, I'm not sure how wel this will work for me.

Adjust rigging to shape doesn't take long, and it is something one often needs to do even without any converted characters/morphs

    Adjust rigging works -- thanks

I'll ask before I buy to see if this is worth it:  will this fix an ongoing issue in the 3DX community if you have Morphs that are "bigger" than normal artists do for renders lets say, breasts, hips, etc.  I tried RSSY's converter and couldn't get it to work like other 3DX artists couldn't and we are stuck in gen 8 cause of it.  If it fixes that issue, I will try out your converter.

  • Just checking in to say that with limited testing - two figures so far - I'm very happy with this product. I converted a G8.1 M with no problem at all; a G8.1 F just needed the "Adjust rigging" step done and seems OK. My characters are a hodgepodge of Face Transfer shapes and assorted morphs. Previously, I had been doing some testing with converting G8.1 FT characters to G9 via a long, complicated series of steps and this turns it into a breeze.

I've converted three custom characters that used a ton of morphs, and it was a breeze! I certainly appreciate that the character gets transferred into a single dial instead of transferring all the morphs it's made of. I'm very happy with my purchase :).

Successfully converted a couple of my G8Ms over the weekend and am generally happy with the results. I have the following questions:

    1. The manual made reference to an auto-rig option that I'm not seeing in the UI. Will this feature be available in a future version?
    2. This plugin doesn't scale the eyes which are now a separate attachment, so some of the characters eyes will be too small/large for the sockets post-conversion. Any chance this can be automated so we don't have to manually translate/scale eyeballs and link them to the morph?

That error is a bit confusing. Please make sure that you have both Genesis 3 and Genesis 8 installed.

Also hold off on converting Genesis 3 items. The dev needs to address a problem with the arms after conversion (please check older posts). Just trying to keep another person from posting the same issue again.

I actually installed the latest version and redid the G3 body morph I had issues with earlier and it converted fine this time, so maybe it was updated

Nope, not fixed. Made sure my files were updated and just tried Elijah 7. It's almost like the more different the proportions are from the base G3, the more the arms distort. I believe my previous showed that. Maybe your morphs don't change the skeletal proportions?

    I can wait.

I get the distortions too and I reinstalled it. Nothing's changed. I can wait too.

I guess you are correct. I just tried Elijah 7 myself and it was a mess. makes me wonder why my custim G3 body didn't work the first time, but did the second time, odd.

I'm thinking the more the proportions vary from the base G3, the more we see this distortion. I've only tried four figures, all Daz #s - Michael 7, Lucian 7, Elijah 7, and Guy 7. Lucian 7 has the least amount of distortion, Elijah 7 has the most.

Sorry for the tardy reply, I am back from my vacation. The error message is confusing indeed. The Figure Converter requires that all of Genesis 3, 8 and 9 essentials are installed, even if you are not converting Genesis 3 figures, and unfortunately it then mentions Genesis 9.

I haven't done any testing in that department. There are probably some differences in the breast area due to Genesis 9 no longer having a female variant. But I have tested extreme shapes likes monsters and JoeQuick's amazing figures, which distort the base figure a lot. The biggest problem with strong morphs in the head is that the eyes become misplayed and will need manual fixing, but strong body morphs should probably work in general.

I will do some testing on the G3 body morphs now. Sorry for the delay!

    My first conversion of https://www.daz3d.com/sc-alieta-spryte-for-genesis-3-female

I do not know, why hands are distorted?

    Used materials from https://www.daz3d.com/e3d-biddie-hd-for-genesis-9-female

    on the converted character.

You're the fourth (or fifth?) to report this in this thread. ManFriday is back from vacation and is taking a look at it.

  • If it's helpful for anyone's troubleshooting, I have now done several G8.1 -> G9 conversions and I've found that I had to do the Adjust Rigging step for the female figures while the male figures did not appear to need any additional steps. After the Adjust Rigging, the female characters seemed OK. I have not put these newly converted G9 characters through any deep and thorough testing yet, but I've made sure that nothing was obviously amiss with the face and that I didn't see any weirdness when I tried a few poses with them. All of my characters are Face Transfer characters, maybe with a few light morphs - so nothing with extreme shapes.

Ok. I have not read all the posts in the thread,

but good to know, that it is been spotted by the others.

ManFriday mentioned this step in the manual. I've been using adjust rigging just because sometimes it looks ok but the rigging winds up being slightly off.

For my characters, the problem manifests as elongated, flattened, kinked fingers when doing a pose. The figure looks ok until I apply a random pose (which I do immediately after conversion and initial inspection). This was seen in both of my female G8.1 -> G9 conversions, but so far in none of the male ones. I occasionally had this happen when doing this process manually, so it was something I had seen and dealt with before.

I am having issues with the scale of the converted character being set to around -30000% which I resolved by manualy resetting to 100%.

Unfortunatly overall the character is a bit warped still.

    Am I mising a step?

The sample is Aiko 8 converted to Genesis 9

  • hi, this is what i get....even with a basic female 8 item.

Critical error...Could not convert figure: failed to find new morph “Temporary high-res morph” in node “tempg8-tgt-yguZacdG” figure after conversion; Morph Loader Pro returned

Are you guys sure you are using ManFriday's converter? This looks like the known RSSY converter mishap
