Drawing roads in Blender without using an add-on?

I saw a few YouTube videos that show a Blender user using the draw tool and instantly creating a road, but I believe he used an add-on.
But I wonder if it is possible for me to draw a road without using an add-on? More like use a small road segment, use a draw tool, and instantly creating roads. I prefer not to spend any money on add-ons, but rather I'd prefer to do it without add-ons if it means a little bit more work. I'd prefer to use one of the road segments from a package I bought from TurboSquid nearly two years ago.

I have seen it done with geometry nodes. But it was a road with lightpoles and more, so a complex node setup.
But for a simple road you could model a road profile, and then use that with a curve modifier.
Found this you can look at and try
So, I did discover the geometry nodes in the video is no longer free. But I wonder if you could supply a link to a tutorial on how to create a simple road by modeling a road profile and using it with a curve modifier?
I may not need to model a road profile - I can just use a small road section from one of the packages I purchased from TurboSquid some time ago.
This should explain how to use a curve modifier.
Use an array modifier on your row segment, and then add a curve modifier.
For a road you don't need to draw the curve, you can just edit it.
And here is where I think it is extremely important to refer to Blender's Golden Rule if it has one: "Apply your transforms" :) Whenever something happens and you just can't understand why, it is problably Blender doing the correct thing, but your object's translation, rotation, and/or scale is not "baked".
