It will get fixed, that I'm sure of.
An Airbnb glamping rental in Sweden
USC2 scene.
Rumour has it that it is owned by a coder.
Is it possible to "draw" your own streets and pathways in US2? I am looking for something to create a medieval village with several houses, and as such the landscape portion of the scene does not need to be a forest with a river, but just shrubbery around the houses and paths / streets.
No, not currently, but that is actually something I'm looking at as an extension/tool for USC2, but it's quite an undertaking so it won't happen soon, not even DAZSoon™.
Damn, because that would be a real step towards combatting the "cheap" feel of Daz Studio-only creations - but at least you're looking at it... :-)
Hello, not sure if this is the right forum for this but I had an issue running Daz Studio in headless mode in which the Ultrascenery dll failed to initialize. I have both Ultrascenery 2 and Ultrascenery XT installed (not the original US), and the error happens regardless of whether the plugins (for both) are enabled or disabled inside Studio itself.
The error in the log file reads:
I assume this is because US requires some sort of graphics setup to initialize, and that's why the initlization fails. Just want to know one way or another, so I'm not trying to do something that isn't currently possible.
what is "headless" mode?
Did you install USC2 and XT using DIM? I'm sure someone else will chime in, but that 2nd one is important. USC will not run correctly if its not installed with DIM.
"Headless" usually means a computer without a monitor.
In this case it means running without a UI, silently under the cotnrol of a script/remotely via command line.
Headless in this context means running Studio from the command line using the -headless option. It is meant to execute a script silently without starting up the Studio user interface. I installed US2 and XT using DIM, and they both run just fine when I'm using them from the Studio user interface. If I try the script without the -headless option (i.e. allow the Studio user interface to start), then it initializes properly and executes the script. It's only with the -headless option that the plugin initilialization fails. I'm assuming that using -headless is causing some part of the graphics subsystem that US2 or XT relies on to not start, causing the plugin to fail during startup.
Is there a list anywhere of those products released for USC1 that are compatible with USC2 or is pretty much everything compatible subject to some limitations?
AFAIK, everything should work, with the limitations of size of the ground which will break things if larger than 64x64.
I have used loads and no problems, even bridges stuff works, which is amazing.
Thank you. Is USC XT a separate product that works alongside USC1 and USC2? And same question for the Materials and Skies add on?
USC XT is a standalone product.
Thank you, that's great to know.
Added G2 to the Cabin scene.

Hi, I'm getting to grips with UltraScenery (original) for the first time. I have quite the shopping list of issues, but Barbult was kind enough to help me out with some input earlier today, so I’ve been able to cut it down a bit. I should mention at the outset that I'll be referencing Martin Frost's video tutorial series 'Ultrascenery The Ultimate Guide', which is my only current frame of reference.
Barbult confirmed that my plugin installation menu is in order, with Accelerator showing up in the right place. I don’t have the Octane plugin on my system. I installed everything via DIM. My OS is Windows 10 on a 64 bits desktop. Using Daz Studio 4:22. Ultrascenery script version is 1.3.6.4, Accelerator version is 1.0.2.4; up-to-date in the context of the tutorial series, at least. I should be rendering to my Nvidia graphics card, not CPU, but I'm unaware how to check for this.
I've also attached a sample render so you can see what I'm faced with. No idea which of these are related; whether some, all, or none. It can't be a version issue; as referenced above it's the same as in Martin's tutorials. So, thanking you in advance for any help or guidance.
That is on the Render Settings pane, Advanced tab. Uncheck both CPU options, and the 3 General options at the bottom checked.
What is your NVIDIA driver version?
US2 scene with a bridge 1 classic content (not resized), so 64 meters.
This really makes me smile. I also liked the way you've used shadows to resolve the "edge of the world" issue.
Cheers,
Alex.
That's the way to configure it to use the GPU, but to see whether it really is using the GPU for any given render, I like to use GPU-Z.
I think the problems in John's case really occur prior to rendering. The script is not running correctly for some reason.
John posted a log file in another thread. (I suggested he post his problem here to get more eyes on it and keep UltraScenery issues in one thread.) The log shows this error:
I searched that log file for the "usc_grass_patch_02_512_diffuse.png" file it says it is loading when the problem occurs. I found this line:
2024-08-11 06:17:50.232 Iray [INFO] - IMAGE:IO :: 1.0 IMAGE io info : Loading image "E:\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud\1_67835\runtime\textures\howiefarkes\ultrascenery\plants\usc_grass_patch_01_512_diffuse.png", no selector, pixel type "Rgb", 512x512x1 pixels, 1 miplevel.
It appears that at some point in time, some UltraScenery files were installed with Daz Connect (from inside Daz Studio.) UltraScenery will not work with files installed with Daz Connect. Even if you later install them with DIM, that will not solve the problem. They must first be uninstalled from Daz Connect. @johnbuckeridge I think uninstalling all UltraScenery related products from Daz Connect is the first order of business to solve this problem. Then we can see if other problems still remain.
Edit: I don't know why the forum chose to make my pasted text white on black.
Good morning, Doctor. Thank you, that's bugged me on the quiet for ages. Graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070.
Good morning, Barbult. I will try that, although currently having issues with my Microsoft cloud access. Will report back.
The Daz Connect "cloud" is a folder on your E drive, as shown in the log file message I highlighted. It is not located remotely; it is on your computer. Daz simply chose to name the folder "cloud" to totally confuse users and it worked! The number of users confused about the Daz Connect cloud is about 90% of users IMHO. The Daz Connect "cloud" folder has nothing to do with a Microsoft cloud, unless you have allowed One Drive to offload folders from your E drive to One Drive and remove the files from your computer.
If you look on your computer in E:\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud and the subfolders, do you see a bunch for folders and files?
Thanks a lot for the comments, Alex.
I have experimented with the settings of US2 and even extend forest option did not helped,
so I decided to put some wall at the edge of the terrain.
I have also tried to resize the terrain to 256 meters,
but could not find enough nice ecology to match the resized terrain.
It is a pity, that the bridge and the path is so close to the edge of terrain,
so in 64 meters terrain one need to find some workarounds.
Hey Daz - that's cheating! I come to the table fully pre-confused, lol. No need to pile it on! Right, so, little update for you. I've now resolved my issues with logging into Daz studio. I had, as I thought, purged my Daz Studio of all things Ultrascenery: switched to working offline first of all, then went into products and systematically deleted everything related, even the scenes I'd created with UScenery and closed Studio. I also uninstalled everything on DIM. Reinstalled everything again on DIM, restarted Studio, logged in and.... (drum roll, please) ...same result, same problems. (Booo!)
I can only imagine that I must have missed something in the purge. I've also included a screenshot of how my newly installed UScenery products are looking in Smart Content: basically, as if I need to install them via Daz Connect, but I'm not listening to its siren song!
Thought it might be useful to post my latest log file - contains only information regarding my most recent - doomed! - attempt to build a scene.
Looks like the Accelerator plugin is not installed, or is not the latest version as the exported property hf_app.ui.wWaterLevelAdjust that the script is calling is not exported.
I haven't done a lot of experimentation with multiple USC2 objects, but you can tile USC1s around a USC2 to get rid of the "Edge of the World" effect.
