Strand-based hair is black although brown is set to be the color

Hi... please see attached color settings... when I change the colors to something very differents, let's say some red, the beard becomes red. But with this light brown the beard is black. Any ideas why?

Pls post the screenshot of full settings if possible. Perhaps you set no or less value of glossy weight and highlight weight...
