Shadow Projection

I'm attempting to cast a lace pattern shadow on a figure. Between the spotlight and the figure, I placeed a plane primitave and then used the editor and loaded a lace pattern transparency into the diffuse color. I tried both Raytrace and Deep Shadow, but the pattern does not project onto the figure.

Does anyonee have a suggestion how I can accomplish this?

Did you also load an appropriate image [black/white] to the opacity dial?
