Please do not forget Hexagon

Years have passed since the last update and we have been asked again and again if the developers are working on a new version of Hexagon, but nobody could give us an answer. Unfortunately, we are noticing more and more often that models created with Hexagon are having problems importing to New Platforms. We sincerely hope that it will be developed further.
Hexagon has great potential and is easy to learn, don't forget that.
Give us a tool that supports today's state of the art. Surely many are willing to pay a reasonable price for it.

Please add me to the list of people hoping for an update on Hexagon. This editor is still useful - and it works more smoothly togehter with DS than others.
Thanks
They haven't forgotten--they are actively ignoring it.
I'm hoping, they are sitting on it because they are incorporating some of it to DS5
The fact that there is no reaction from DAZ is worrying.
It will probably come down to the fact that we have to switch to Blender, should nothing further develop here in the near future.
This would be a real pity and quite time consuming.
Last signs of life from Hexagon, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Hexagon BETA - version 2.5.2.137! (*UPDATED*)
2.5.2.137 (June 13, 2018)
Now, for the record I kinda moved on myself, had a chance to pick up on a ZBrush license. Thing is: Hexagon definitely left its marks on me and despite me not actively using it I never stopped caring.
Now, please don't pick up my comment in the wrong way but.. although I definitely agree that Hexagon isn't exactly perfect it's still definitely capable. Just because a software program doesn't get frequent updates doesn't imply that it's also dead or suddenly "unusable", that's plain out silly. The Unix game of Nethack went on for 6 or so years without any updates and people still enjoyed themselves on their Unix shells ("commandlines").

Hello Sheeuser,
you yourself write that you have not actively used Hexagon, we on the other hand use Hexagon intensively and import the models created with it across other platforms, which in the meantime have problems depending on the version. They would thus see, if they worked intensively with it, that there are problems here, in building as well as in exporting.
What good are the models you build in Hexagon if I can't use them ?
Apart from the fact that Hexagon crashes during certain actions or the models are displayed incorrectly or not at all after the export, the modeling software of other manufacturers is constantly evolving to keep up with this, which Hexagon has not been doing for years. One has the impression that prefers to limit itself to the core business of selling the models.
Especially newcomers are faced with an insoluble problem when a tool does not work properly, unsettled is added that it is simply ignored by the manufacturer and mine doesn't get any information if and how it will continue.
You can work around some problems by importing models built in Hexagon to Blender and exporting them from Blender. Then they will be displayed correctly. But does this make sense?
Please do not take my answer as an attack on you, we are discussing.
When using Windows 10, minor performance degradation of Hexagon can be observed.
Hexagon works on Windows 10
Love Hexagaon. Love it's simplicity and it's sole function is modeling and not weighted down with other features like Blender.
That said, I've given up on Hexagon and was using Silo3D as a replacement, but later jumped aboard the Blender ship and never looked back.
If Hexagon was given a reboot, I would certainly give it a try..
Blender has too many functions other than modeling that I am not interested in.
Hello Kemo,
We also love Hexagon very much, just because it is very tidy and clear and you can work easily and quickly.
Therefore, we do not give up hope, ask the team to at least take a closer look at the export, which causes problems on other platforms.
Hexagon's teething problems in modeling, yes, we can deal with that and know when it pinches.
Some of us already did pay for it. I payed $75 for it back a few years, and yet... well you know the state of the software.
I moved on a few years ago after it was clear that it wasn't of any real worth to Daz to do much with it. I still check back every now and again to see if there has been any life in the software as I really liked it a whole lot.
Guess we have to add me to the list of Hexagon users who will have to move on due to lack of interest by Daz 3D.
Below is screenshot of regular Hexagon still available (and not newer & better Beta. See my post on Beta thread).
No mention of DS now - only legacy Carrara. Probably not an error but a hint.
*Use Hex all the time, so multiple backups of DS & HexBeta made.
PS. Nice OP
Hi
I agree with update hexagon
So it becomes unnecessary to switch to other 3d modeller when it lacks that function
Import. Stl?
Compiled to 64bit possible?
Add me to the list. The simplicity makes it hard to let go of it.
Late to the party here. I always figured that when I have more time to get back into modeling, I would wait to see if DAZ was actively working on a Hexagon update. And if not, I would make my move to Blender.
And so to Blender it is. Unfortunately for DAZ, that might make me have less need for DAZ Studio and the DAZ store. You're just leaving my money on the table, DAZ. And that's okay, maybe we should each date other people anyway!
That would be nice indeed, although "touches wood" Hexagon is behaving very stable with Win 11. I love working with Hexagon.
It's nice to read that many still use Hexagon.
We currently work with Blender & Hexagon alternately, whereby I like Hexagon better.
Currently, we see an enormous upheaval in the market and AI will increasingly flow into it.
The future will probably be AI supported software.
We believe that DAZ will have problems if they do not adapt.
AI image generators are also getting better and better, we work with them every day.

Do we still need DAZ in the near future ?
_
They probably don't have the resources to work on several projects at the same time, I think they have been working on DS5 along with the revisions of DS4 ever since the last updates/versions of Bryce, Carrara and Hexagon.
That is certainly possible, but it would be helpful to get some info on whether Hexagon has been abandoned or if there is a chance they will continue to develop it.
A CAD software needs years to work with it safely and with full scope. It's stupid to switch now and find out that Hexagon is still being worked on and a new version is coming. If people choose an alternative to Hexagon and switch, they are gone, DAZ must be clear about that. Hexagon doesn't need to be reinvented either, it should run more stable and maybe get some new features, also the export needs to be overhauled. But Hexagon is a very good software for beginners. We use a lot of tricks to keep Hexagon from crashing while building. If you don't know that, Hexagon is frustrating and you move on.
Is Bryce and Carrara being developed further, what is the situation here?
We have never installed this because we use other things, but wouldn't it make sense for DAZ to focus on one thing.
Do people still work with Bryce and Carrara?
Are these still up to date?
It looks like you have the same problem there as here.

well I certainly still use Carrara unlike Hexagon it doesn't freeze up on me modelling stuff
also look in our forum and see the wonderful stuff Stezza makes
Hey WendyLuvsCatz ...
Thanks for your feedback, I will do that.
What is the situation with you ... when was the last update? Are you currently happy with the version?
We can only hope that DAZ reads along and possibly comments on it.... "We are not getting any younger."
I used the last beta but it still froze a lot for me, I know many love Hexagon and it has some tools we don't have in Carrara but it has never played nice on my machines
Carrara can freeze too but more from using too high poly meshes than just pressing the wrong icon, no need to "validate"
Carrara was last updated 8 years ago
Thanks for your reply, we don't understand DAZ policy. Given the current development of AI, we see hard times ahead for DAZ. But wish that they have a lot of success. And no, we are not against DAZ, we like it a lot. If we didn't care about them, we wouldn't write here. Just, you shouldn't leave loyal users out in the cold, eventually they will look for another home with a solid roof over their heads.
Hexagon has come a long way since its humble beginnings with Eovia and not so buggy.
Following what AI does - and have worked with DS and Hexagon - I believe that AI will be a (major) distribution to 3d, but Hexagon and DS will be very important. The reason: You can easily position each object and character, choose the effects and set up single scenes or have a crowd in it in the 3d programs. But you always can change, plan or modify each detail you like. That is (and wll be impossible) with the kind of AI that is comming up.
There may be AI helper systems that complete poses, arrange background, create textures etc. so that you can create complex scenes in short time, but in my oppion we will still need DS and Hexagon to precise have the scene we want
I Love Carrara, though it hasn't been updated since l o n g before the last few Hexagon updates.
Loving Carrara means that Hexagon feels fairly 'at home', although with quite a few differences. Instead of a Daz bridge, for example, Carrara has it's own Poser/Daz Studio Library browser.
I too would love to see further development on Hexagon.
+1
I'm not up on the category but in general this is what I've been thinking - there is detail and precision here that you're not going to... get via other means. At least not any time soon.
Btw M$ seems to be really pushing Bing/ChatGPT. I gave it a try by asking it to tell me something about a topic that I am a leading expert on <deep bow>. I then submitted a correction to the returned text!
The system said "thanks for pointing that out".
