Spaceship/Submarine Airlocks And Umbilicals

The SS Marcoor sets (hoping we'll see a few more of those) made for great corridors and even interiors of umbilicals. But how about a retractable/telescoping exterior umbilical? Perhaps even with an articulated airlock for either end? This way we can connect ship models to one another for personnel/cargo transfer or even emergency rescues.

Doesn't have to show glass-like transparencies - could be completely solid. Would double for renders of underwater environments and hazardous environments, as well as for ships linking up in outer space. Stuff like 'Event Horizon' should be great inspiration for stuff like this.

Alternatively, a DSRV (Deep Submergence Rescue Vehicle) with thrusters which look ambiguous enough to be water jets or workable for outer space, akin to that shown in 'The Hunt For Red October'. That way, we can use it for futuristic underwater or space-themed renders.

    I support this idea. Lots.

Excellent! I was looking for something along those lines 2-3 years ago.
