Loving IRAY but..

No question about it, Iray has wet my appetite for pbr - I've been on the fence regarding Octane for over a year now; it's simply too expensive for what seems to be a never ending beta-test (add to that the fact that you actually have to pay again just to have the software updated..)

BUT... there is one major thorn in the current Daz implementation of Iray - what happened to motion blur?!! Unless you render DEAD still compositions, you simply can't live without motion blur.. Anyone have any insight into wether there are plans to implement it? It was like being punched in the gut when I realized that with all it's bells and whistles, Iray still won't cut it - and then a headbut when it became clear that motion blur is indeed part of the Iray in 3DS..

I was litterally one click away from ordering a Titan X, but now it's back to playing the waiting game again; is Octane a viable option (which kills off the Titan due to limited funds) or will DS Iray become a truly viable alternative?

Don't know if this post serves more as a frustration vent, but if someone can share ANY light (pun intended) on this issue, I'd deeply appreciate it!

    Well - i am on einar33_891261a091 side...

I strongly miss motion blur - and multipass rendering.....  i aim for photorealism - motion blur and multipass rendering are allready native in iray.

Real multipass means we can adjust EVERY light and object in postwork... this gives me the freedom to take the "photoshots" which i can not do otherwise. And animation without motion blur just dosent look real and smooth.

Those two features will be a massive enhancment for DAZ - But well DAZ iray is just out of Beta and i would be surprised if motion blur and multipass will not be integrated in one of the next updates....

Don't know how to get motion blur yet, but have you looked at the canvases settings under the Advanced settings in the render settings tab? That allows for very granular (manual, until the script documentation includes an entry showing how to access the canvas entity) multipass renders.

Heck - shame over me smiley,,,,,   there is it ... great - sorry daz

I see material ID - if we can render passes for a whole object using the material ID - then it is possible to add motion blur post with batch processing or in AE (frames animation)... need to try that.

If now somebody can find the motion blur switch somewhere in a advanced setting panel of DAZ.   i will never complain that i miss something laugh
