Stupid question about the blockchain
not really about NFTs but it will likely get moved to this forum anyway so I posted it here
anyway
From what I gather, once something is on the Blockchain, it cannot be removed only hidden. If someone is Doxxed on the Blockchain it can only be hidden, if their nudes or worse stuff we cannot discuss is added it is there for good and can only be hidden.
Nothing stays hidden on the internet, if Interpol get involves because of something can it be edited or only can be destroyed.
How is this secure?
I need this explained to me like a small child because I am too dumb to understand the complexity of it, I only see the Emperor's New Clothes, I am not trolling, this is literally what I see and believe and am begging people not to drink the Coolaide because a lot of Artists I respect are going to lose a lot of money doing this.
I am really concerned for the future DAZ too.
My protests and boycots fall on deaf ears and I in the end do relent and buy something I really want still because if I don't it may be too late when forclosure happens.
I am really struggling not to do that.
I don't enjoy typing this.
edit
I was reading this trying to get some clarity
https://blockgeeks.com/guides/blockchain-consensus/
all I saw was a box with Schrodinger's cat in it dead or alive
if they cannot solve Quantum physics and know which outcome will prevail
how the heck does this stuff work even?
I am even more confused than ever

There is no reason to be concerned about Daz' future. They are not going to be foreclosed on, in fact they are doing extremely well in all areas.
If you're really interested in learning about blockchain here's some interesting articles about the uses for blockchain. I especially like the ability to trace where food comes from.
https://www.ibm.com/topics/what-is-blockchain
https://blockheadtechnologies.com/how-blockchain-is-revolutionising-food-supply-chains/
just briefly skimming that I can see the usefulness for industry using private blockchains and logistical uses etc but I am still to be convinced on the NFT usage of it which is why this wasn't really a question for this forum just nowhere else to post it, I am trying to get a bigger picture here.
This artical is a good one to read it helped me understand how it works
https://www.investopedia.com/terms/b/blockchain.asp
There is this https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blockchain that appears to describe what it is instead of promoting it
I thought this article was pretty good at explaining the basics of what a blockchain is and some of the potential uses for blockchain (not specific to NFTs): https://www.oecd.org/finance/OECD-Blockchain-Primer.pdf
I don't think Daz is in any danger of going under, and the overall push for blockchain technology and NFTs across the board means people who like them are probably exactly right about everyone being forced to deal with them forever. I'm just utterly fascinated at how easy it is to convince people that something every big, data-hungry tech company is absolutely slavering to be first in line to exploit is in their best interest, and that we should all be rushing to make sure it's entrenched and undoable as quickly as possible before any laws get made. Hmm!
Also it's never going to automagically make anyone's video game items ~permanently theirs~ without the entire industry graciously committing to changing how they do business; it's just going to give video game companies a new way to sell lootboxes since the current format is probably going to see a widespread crackdown in the next few years. Players won't be buying a lootbox; they'll be buying an NFT with a !!bonus!! random grab bag attached. There will likely also be a lot of really gross experiments with play-to-earn as everyone forgets why the Diablo 3 real-money auction house made the game suck. But there is a lot of money to be made for anyone with no concern for long-term effects who gets in early, and that's what really counts.
Companies are also very interested in blockchain technology for its potential uses in DRM.
There are legitimate and useful applications for NFT's, but for the NFT's to be usable for those applications, the price of minting should come down to a few cents, the connection to cryptocurrencies should be broken and the proof of (meaningless) work abandoned - As they are at the moment, is just another speculative financial instrument that has nothing to do with the digital content linked to them.

Yeah, but where would be the fun in that?...
