How are created scene textures commonly obtained?

So I had a cool idea to create a little sci-fi scene in Blender to eventually have in daz after all my blood and sweat working on it but how does one commonly obtain textures for scenes, especially scenes that are not in the everyday world like sci-fi settings. Its not like I can go take a picture of the side of some grounded spaceship to use.
How do people usually get these things?

Paint them, assemble them from mundane pictures, use parametric shading...
As a possible starting point. Have a search for CCO/Public_domain textures. You may find textures that you can use as_is, or maybe some editing/mixing may get what you need.
Some example sites for textures (there are others):-
https://polyhaven.com/
https://ambientcg.com/
https://freepbr.com/
depends entirely what your space craft is constructed out of.
dull metals seem popular but since nobody has actual footage of one it could have a veined gut texture for all we know
Others will be using them, it makes no difference. You can still use them. (anyone/everyone can use them)
