Offering a NFT again? https://www.daz3d.com/stop-the-hate-aapi . Really? Doing WRONG things for the RIGHT reasons does not make it any better.
I am ... disgusted.

Either Shudu had more success with the first batch of NFTs than we thought or he just doesn't learn. Also seems all those who said they'd close their wallets over this didn't have much of an effect either.
I view this in black or white; I want to see NFTs completely gone or I want detailed instructions on how all of us can sell our art to rich people with too much money while causing as little environmental damage as possible.
Daz NFTs haven't been selling at all. I honestly thought they would have stopped throwing money after this by now.
+ 1000. I honestly couldn't believe my eyes when I logged in just now and saw the new banner. Guys, will you not please learn a little?!
Sorry but the only way to achieve this is not to do it.
I am especially diappointed about Diigitals. Stating that they do revisit the idea of NFT's, just to have another one now? You are not embracing love, you are embracing commerce.
Unbelievable — and when this new NFT promotion was added, the premiere Fred release promo was removed prematurely, so prices on the first Fred bundle and Daz Original bundles have skyrocketed...

And in the meantime NFT power consumption has risen to over three times of that of the daily consumption of the average US household per transaction.
I can't help but find it intresting how if you buy the NFT, 100% of the proceeds will go to the orginization. But if you buy the bundle it's only 50%.
While it's nice of Daz to raise awarness, it might be better to just directly donate instead of this
They did post another blog entry:

Go to horny jail? lol wat.
Am I the only one who is a little uncomfortable about using a disturbing social trend of violence and hatred towards a particular community as a commercial promotion theme? Notwithstanding the fact that a percentage of the proceeds go to the relevant charity, a statement and/or donation could have been made without attempting to reap the benefits of advertising product.
That's it! Daz is going on with NFT? I'm done here, back to Renderosity.
NFT's are zero value. It is just a very expensive link to something that might be gone tomorrow (if somneone switches offf the server). I still have no idea why Daz is engaging in such a business. It would be more helpful if they invest in QA and QC on the products they offer. Stick to your business. And do it best you could. THAT would add a benefit. Not only to Daz, but also to Daz customers.
Deviant Art and Hulu both have AAPI themed features going on right now. But those are "Here is some content you can watch/read," not "Give us your money." A contest earlier in the month might have gone over better.
What's with these themed month bundles coming at the last minute? It's been a whole month! Surely it doesn't take that long to put together a bundle with pre-existing content?
I am with you on NFTs (and crypto anything) being gone forever. It's all a get rich quick scheme for the select few that know how to manipulate that market and it's sad that more and more are trying to adopt it.
I know exactly what they are, and I wasn't making any sort of a statement about what I think about NFTs - I was simply addresssing the Sultan's call for detailed instructions.

Well I did not expect it to...but it's done good to my economy.
I really don't like they are pushing NFTs under the cover of stopping the hate against asians, I am half asian, my dad was born on an island bordering the pacific.
Please stop it Daz, it really does not make me feel any better about you or NFts, in fact it makes me feel worse. I feel a just cause that should benefit me and people like me is being used to legitimize something immoral, which NFTs are in my opinion, it make me feel used, that feels really bad.
Climate change is already seriously threatening the pacific nations due to rising sea levels, some communities will not survive if we do not change our approach to the enviroment in the next five years, and your pushing NFTs to stop the hate against Pacific Islanders? There is no logic here, at best ignorance.
Agree. He was talking as if "Seems we didn't saw the big picture" and the only thing he "corrected" is that this time it states that the % that goes for charity.
He is even using the same cryptocurency and promotional site that was desmonstrated was the worst choice from all the bad choices available.
I won't repeat them, but i thought that the bad things said about him (unrelated to NFTs) were wrong or at least a little misguided. Seems i was wrong.
Mine as well. I have not spend actual dollars. Just using the credit i had left little by little and mostly on non DO stuff. PC+ will lapse in a couple days, probably won't renew.
Yeah, I'm thinking about it too. Not only has the whole NFT thing made me sick given the environmental repercussions and increased ease and lucrativity (is that a word?) of art theft, not to mention not being able to buy a friggen GPU, but overall quality of content has gone down the proverbial poopy pipe. Granted there are some top shelf vendors, but overall...yeah. Stuff has just been sucking the big bites. I might be going with you guys...I have enough of a library to keep me busy for a good long while, and I feel like my art and kitbashing skills have graduated me up enough to start looking to other resources (such as my recent $100 birthday spend on a specific Valhalla set at another site). The money I save not spending here will make it easier to spend elsewhere.
All the "questions" he had when this whole nasty mess started was just lip service I guess. Glad I stay away from this place more often now.
On the environmental impact, I thought the NFT-generation Daz was using had switched to using a system (Wax?) that did not use proof of work.
I just deleted my wishlist because if NFT. Nobody will care about it, I know, but I will...
I suppose that does not matter much. NFT's are just a very expensive link to some asset that might no longer exist tomorrow.
I am very disurbed that Daz is STILL investing in such a thing. They SHOULD invest in better QA and QC on the prodiucts they offer. Or invest in some real customer benefits.E.g. the "Streak" discount initiative was just a slap in the face of their most loyal customers. I have learned my lesson. I would no longer trust Daz with ANYTHING. If Daz would claim the sky is blue, I would personally check if that is true.
I find it hilariously ironic that this has reared it's ugly head again, when in the survey that was sent out yesterday, in the "what can we do to improve" section I suggested getting rid of the NFT tab because this is not the correct market for that. Oh man. I love it when a corporation just doubles down on a terrible idea. It's hailarious.
No. Opensea requires purchases made in Etherium. Etherium is still using Proof of Work and helping to burn down the planet. The "merge" as it is now being called when Etherium switches to Proof-of-stake was supposed to be happening about now. It hasn't yet and the projected date now says 2021/2022.
https://ethereum.org/en/eth2/merge/
Wax blockchain does indeed seem a lot better (there are no concrete numbers to be found though), however, for an NFT to be valuable it has to be tradeable, the vast majority of trades are not on the Wax blockchain. Most NFTs end-up on a ETH-based blockchain where it becomes as polluting as any other NFT.
If someone knows, can you mint an NFT with wax-coin? I thought you'd still need ETH.
There are already ways for people to generate money for our images... that's on us as Hobbyists who want to become Professionals.
Patreon, OF, commission work, knowing people who need stuff done. Whatever.
Daz as NFT marketplace? Why even bring it here? It's got nothing to do with us, especially those of us who are Hobbyists.
Take that NFT elsewhere, where it will be appreciated by its intended audience.
