Fantasy Huts! What's Next ...Tents? [Commercial]

AntManAntMan Posts: 2,051

Looking back on the name I get why I don't sell stronger in the fantasy world of the store. I use to really put a spin on names but was told to be more on point. I may have gone to far. Well anyway I had a ton of fun doing these. The four each have their own vibe, I couldn't settle on a single feel and thought maybe more than one might be useful. It would be fun to do more sets like this if they agree with folks, right up to victorian and even sci-fi. Little single unit dwellings.

Feedback is always welcome.

The first two look like true hovels: a dwelling made from materials available on site by the owner, usually 2 or fewer rooms. There is a quasi legal definition that grew up from the 1870's 'HOVEL: A place wherein husbandmen set their ploughs and carts out of the rain or sun.' but that doesn't relate to hovels built in the 1700's, a few of which still survive in England, and seem to be very sought after now.

Yeah "Fantasy Huts" was not some of my most poetic work. I want to do more sets which makes matters worse, I will need to make it "Fantasy Huts 2" or something equally limited. Hovels has a nice ring, a certain degree of unsteadiness implied. I can certainly see a stone structure, even ice and snow. There is a lot more that can be done with pelts and timber too. As I have always said I am open to ideas and input.

These look gorgeous. The round haf-timbered one is a bit un-historical for my taste, but hey it's fantasy!

Since you asked for feedback, personally, I'd suggest making sets of huts in the same style, rather than four different ones. That way you can group them into a village without it being obvious that it's the exact same building repeated over and over. No doubt there are other people that will tell you they like having their diverse hut needs met by one product!

That would be: Huts & Hovels: Expansion Pack 1

I have no problem doing set of a single style. What I see most though is user doing close ups and midshots of their character creations, two characters as well but rarely more. For this type of shot you need one detailed hut and parts of others in the distance which can be blurred.

That is not to say I don't get what you are saying. The "Never Was" series I made was an expandable world that I kept adding on to. And I have done large environment sets.

I really have no idea how a set like the Sci-Fi kit bash sets but for Orcs or Tribal people would go over?

I like your in put Chris I wish more folks would use the platform to help create the products they want to see in the store.

I love the idea of a set of tribal/huntergatherer huts to make a community, or variety.

But I have no idea how viable a market my interests are. ;)

With texturing those huts can be primitive hovels put up in cities where the homeless scavanged whatever they can to protect themselves and their families from the elements and evildooers. That is something that stretches throughout history up to today and into the future.

I just started this so there is a ways to go.

I thought I would try the idea of a set you could use to build a village scene. Still a variety of looks of course, but they would come from the same tribe.

Here is a first look at what I have so far. Let me know what you think.

Thanks GoM. These are just roughed out but I think everyone can see the basic idea. Not sure if there is a market for them. I want to keep it kinda vague so they could be for humans or non humans.

Surely your own sales figures offer some insight?

I can Honestly never tell. Maybe if I only did Environment Sets or just Robots, but bouncing around the way I do I never know. In the long run things normally work themselves out but sometime stuff just tanks. You're left wondering where you went wrong, but with no market feed back you never really know. Crazy right. So I just do what's fun for me. ; )

The tent selection is pretty cool... I'm in!

The other camping related things are a nice bonus too...

Can you add a rustic open-air shower area or even bath-house?
    :)

I love your huts, bought them straight away! I am game for tents as well.

There is also a severe lack of backpacks and other travelling paraphernalia on the market, especially ancient or primitive stuff.

Well, going by my sales figures, the stuff I'm most interested in don't sell very well. But I'm stubborn.

So yeah, I'm not sure my interests should be followed. ;)

That is how it works: you do, what you like or you do, what is profitable.

Not always is the same thing.
