Yes, thank you very much @barbult. I hadn't picked it up, and I am very glad now I didn't.

I just returned a product that was so disappointing to me, that I feel the need to point it out, to save others the trouble. Of course, your needs and usage may differ from mine, so take that into account.

IM City and Park 16K HDRIs is a Daz+ item, and hence inexpensive, but to me, not usable.

Wow and that is from Paper Tiger, who I have several light sets from and like. Thanks for pointing that out, it's really, really poor with the details and realism.

Okay, and this time I'm telling you correctly LOL- I used my get $18 worth Daz+ coupon in addition to the get the new release (the cruise ship) to get a Under the Sun item for 2.99 (had all the food items, so no luck there. Apparently I collect food...)  I also got one Under The Sea item for 2.99.

Want to point out that wet skins bundle for Genesis 8.1 male and female- only 2.99!!!! So glad I waited. I love her products and have the other Genesis generations wet skins from her and have featured them before. The Cowboy Jacket looks okay, the jeans are horrible in my opinion- very bulky and lumpy legs.

So just wanted to point out that wet skins bundle for the 2.99 option for today in the section of Under The Sun items when you buy a new release from today. Also note the character below has nice, shorter fingernails. So tired of everyone having model fingernails!

I saw that too but I think with the right angle it may be do-able. For the price, willing to try it. smiley  Edit: I think the dark blue will make it non-descript, at least that's the thought.   I had looked at this one.  for reference.

If that collar is a seperate material zone I'd just move the cutout opacity slider to make it disappear because I don't see you standing that collar up with that geometry. That at least is a still somewhat common thing on workshirts & such that some farmers wear.

Okay, squirrel rabbit hole. Love it. My apartment complex has a mob of them and often I come to a complete stop when walking through it, just to watch them and them me. Boy do I get chewed out by them when they have a slice of pizza they are dragging 'up' a tree and I get too close. "Mine, all mine!"

Does anybody have an opinion about the new tag system of code66:

    https://www.daz3d.com/code-66-toolbox--volume-1

compared to the camera magic of zev0:

    https://www.daz3d.com/camera-magic?

Both seem to overlap a bit as tools to control viewport node visibility and as i am a bit unsure, which would you choose, or would you even use both simultaneously?

    Many thanks!

@mding  Sorrry, I don't use either of them. Both of those vendors are of course very talented. Hoping someone who has one/both can assist.

    Thankyou @Novica!

I understand that many might rather buy sth else instead of that luxury, lol.I will try now the tag system from code66. because it is a bit more flexible.

  • memcneil70memcneil70 Posts: 4,115

@mding, I bought the Code66 Toolbox Vol 1 for the 'Move' tag. I have been frustrated when trying to add a character or other products to large sets, especially UltraScenery. Yes, I know now I could set a node or something and use it, but this is very easy. Pick the item you want to move, the item it will move to, click 'Move' and it is there. Of course I did it the wrong way first but no big, just undo.

There is also other features, that I haven't dealved into in detail yet.

The Camera Magic I have had on wishlist, but I honestly don't understand how it will help me.

    Thankyoy @memcneil70!

I will also have a look someday at the move tool, what you wrote sounds very intersting, i didn't think of UltraScenery, where i also had enourmous trouble...

But atm i am more into the tag function. camera magic and the tag function from code66 can help you while working on complex scenes, like focusing on background stuff, or people etc. without having to each time manually activate/deactivate visibility for every node in the scene tab. That can save you a lot of time!

The number of times Camera Magic has caused me to lose work exceeds the number of times it has been useful for me. I chalk it all up to user error, not product error. None the less, it does what it says. Where I run into trouble is when I have multiple cameras with separate poses or visibility assigned to each one. Then I continue to work on one camera view, maybe tweaking the pose, for example. Then I switch to another view for a quick look, without redoing the Camera Magic settings. When I switch back to the first camera, all the tweaks I did are lost, because Camera Magic does what it says it does and restores things to the saved state.

I haven't tried the tag system yet.

@barbult: But you COULD save the changes to the camera before switching to the other camera, right? If not, that really would be a flaw. And it would be better, if saving would be done automatically or after asking the user before switching to another camera.

Thankyou for the information, most likely, I will someday give camera magic a try, especially because of the pose addon, but it is good to know about those possible drawbacks.

Yes, you could and should save the changes before switching cameras. That is why I said I chalk it up to user error, not product error. There is no warning, though. That would be nice.

Well I'm not quite sure how all these discounts work (so many listed, do this get that, then that get this, etc) but the only item I owned was the Daz Horse 3, the Mega Bundle was 58% so 74.29, the horse was around 16.00 and it said pay only for items you don't own. Then there were various discounts, so it ended up at 80% off and $36.02   Is that about what you guys are getting? That was a great price for me, not owning anything except the horse.

Yes; but if you add a still new release (including the cheap DAZ+ ones), a mad artist item or one of the DAZ Horse 3 addons you can get the price down to $30.02.

And don't forget to add the freebies to your order.

Review of the tag system from code66, part of the product https://www.daz3d.com/code-66-toolbox--volume-1

    Product forum page: https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/620131/released-code66-toolbox-volume-1-commercial

This is a collection of 5 scripts to help you keep an overview and better manage complex scenes during composition and rendering:

Everything (every node) in the scene can be tagged with as much tags as you wish.

On the basis of those tags you can

    • select all nodes with a certain tag
    • turn on/off visibility with a certain tag
    • or see a list of all nodes with a certain tag

Here a possible workflow for better illustration:

First I select every node in the scene tab and start the "ADD TAGS" script to add the tag "all" to every node in my complex scene:

This way I can turn off and on visibility for all the items in my scene at once by setting everything with tag "all" to invisible or visible.

Next I can create certain tags like for example "plants"  "figures" "buildings" and so on. That would be for a better overview.

And I could also go more into detail tagging certain  figures or plant groups. That would be if i want to work on them seperately e.g. posing without the surounding scene distracting me or bogging down my weak computer system.

And when i am ready to render, i can create tags for the render layers i want to use, like layer1, layer2 etc. for better planing of my render.

Once the tagging has been done, I can work much faster on my scene:

To work on a figures' pose I start the "Tags Visibility" script, choose the "all" tag to hide everything and the figures' tag to make it visible. As i want to work on the pose, i also show the ground and the park bench she is sitting on:

After everything unnecessary is hidden, i can zoom to the figure and work on that pose:

Of course, tags can be removed again from nodes and with the "Node Lister" script i can list the nodes being tagged with a tag of my choice. Such a list could show me for example which clothes the "woman on the bench" is wearing.

My impression: The script is very helpful for handling complex scenes, especially with weaker systems,  and i will continue using it.

Still, it takes some time getting used to it. For example one of my repeating faults with tagging is to forget to tag also the parent node(s) my chosen node is parented to. If I do that, the parent will stay invisible, and as a consequence also the node i wanted to show.

    Then there are minor problems:

    • Removing a tag as a whole with the "Tags Manager" script doesn't remove a tag individually, which has to be done with the "Remove Tag" script. With many nodes tagged, the workflow would be to choose the tag in the TagsVisibility script and click on "select". All nodes selected you can now run the removetag script and clear the selected nodes all at once.
    • A tag can't be renamed. If you mistyped or later decide for a better name, the only way to correct the tag name is to select all tagged nodes with the TagsVisibility script, Add the correct tag with the AddTags script and then remove the wrong tag as described above.
    • In a node list of the TagsVisibility script, you can only choose all tagged nodes to be selected, but can't choose a single node out of a list and select it, which would be helpful imo.
    • You have to remember, that the selection created with the TagsVisibility script is added to the selection you had before you started the script. So if you want to use it for selecting, don't forget to clear the selection before starting the script.

Those are only minor problems, they don't impact on the fun using these scripts and once used to the workarounds, the results are achieved pretty fast. Therefore I recommend this great system to everybody working with complex scenes. And if any problems arise there is of course @Totte, the PA,  in the above mentioned and linked to product forum page, who is very quick to answer your questions and help you with a lot of patience.

Thanks a lot @barbult, i am very glad you liked it!

I hope i will be able to try camera magic too and see how both scripts work together.

Making a test render I was astonished how good the old TEXTURE of https://www.daz3d.com/sword-dancer-for-genesis-2-female-s still looks today: SKU is 20728, no iray material included. Here the raw render without any postwork using the 3DL textures in IRAY (please cklick to enlarge). PAs really did a great job imo!

Thanks for the reviews!  Your click to enlarge doesn't work however- did you do the opening of a second window option in the popup? (with _blank selected?) You put the URL in there, too.
