Showing the eyes when using geoshell for blood decal?

I am working on a blood effect for a G8.1 male. I created a decal, made a texture, and positioned it where I wanted it to be. I like it, except for the fact that now blood falls over my character's eyes. I tried adding the decal to a geoshell so that I could reduce the opacity of the eyes to 0%, but I guess I needed to reduce the opacity of the geoshell to 0 in the first place so you could even see the decal, leaving me no opacity to reduce in the eyes. Is there a quick and dirty way to get the eyes visible when using a full-body decal?

When you cerate a geoshell, you can disable any surface of that geoshell in the Parameters pane in the Shell section.
