I'd love to have the time to play around with this.

Hehe, yeah, me too. And Chris found a neat wrinkle workaround till tensionmaps will get an update :)
Masked drivers ftw!
Holy crap, I had not seen that. Thank you.
Chris is a maniac, I really like his human project. His rigs are a godsend, especially to learn rigging and understanding his driver constructions. 21 is a great year, have you seen humgen3d and the unreal metahuman vids?
Yes, I've seen them both and you are right... 2021 is really shaping up to be a great year for character animators. When UE5 hits, I am going to be forced to at least take a serious look. But I'm also interested in what will happen with DS5 as well. To be honest, though, I think that photoreal characters is not really necessary and most of us will fall off into the Uncanny Valley.
Hmm, it really depends what you try to achieve. For me, 3D is just a hobby since 1990, but I try to achieve photoreality (most likely due to my tech background in RL) whenever possible.
When I discovered Poser in the late 90', I was stunned. And Daz and their content creators did a great job to bring 3D Characters to the next level the last couple of years. Via a Daz campaign I discovered Modo about a decade ago, which gave me the opportunity to model my first objects for a RL project, not bound to characters. What a boost since my Amiga times! (A2000 + GenLock)
I' m curious what Chris will bring up next to make his human project more and more realistic. Metahumans might lead to an Uncanny Valley and / or to new opportunities. I tend to see them as an expanded toolset the next couple of years...
