luxrender for Reality 2, v low efficiency

I have just started playing with Reality 2 (DS, Mac64) and Luxrender and even small and simple images are not rendering recognisably over several hours. I know it is slow but......
The setting give an efficiency (Eff) of between 1 and 4% whatever I do and apparently this should be much higher.
On the Wiki it states "Try using the Metropolis sampler and the bidirectional path tracing integrator" but I have no idea what this means and how to go about doing it. Where is there a menu that allows these parameters to be seen/changed?

You don't need to do that, Reality does it automatically for you.
That's the whole idea behind Reality: tweak less, enjoy more :)
If your efficiency is low that is usually caused by something blocking the path of light, like when you use the sun with a skydome. Can you share your scene setup?
Thanks for that, I'll check. It may be that a background plane was in the way.
It's usually something stupidly simple.....
It's just a matter of building some practice and the eye to spot those things :)
Thanks a lot, I got a great trial image.
