How to Create an Sun Glow Effect

I tried to creat an extra glow effect around the sun, but I am not fully happy with it. I would like the glow close to the sun to be dense and slowly decrease towards the outside. But as you can see in my picture the glow is more or less the same everywhere. Any idea greatly appreciated.
