Can I turn off 'scene preview' when saving?

Lost an hour of work because my Carrara got stuck rendering the scene preview while saving...

Is there any way to turn this off - I know what my scene is, I don't need the preview. I know I must have checked something somewhen to turn it on - I remember doing so, but I can't find the check to turn it back off...

This last time was the second time I'd lost work from that, but also... when it makes the scene preview it does so using all of my render settings other than size... so if I've set up some fancy stuff, that scene preview can take a while...
