Seeking good African characters - male and female
I'm trying to put together good ethnic variety in my library and to that effect I need some very good African characters, for both sexes.
I need something I can use in Daz Studio as my Poser is limited to Poser 7 Windows, and I'm mostly a Mac person now (I went PC for about 6 years last decade, and that happens to be when Poser 7 came out, and for once they required me to choose which platform). It'll be a little bit till I can upgrade Poser and get it again in Mac.
So...
For both male and female I need something with fairly dark and even skin. I really liked Adanna on renderosity but she's for a Poser only figure. But that or darker is about the skin tone I'm seeking. Also no major skin blemishes. I'm not sure why, but I notice in a lot of African characters there's often a 'scar' or welt of some kind on the face or hands.
I also need it not to have baked on hair (no baked on pubic or armpits for either gender - if it exists, not baked on eyebrows either), or at least an option that is not baked in, so that I can work with it in a variety of ways.
I need the texture more than the character morph, but ideally both - I have some good character morphs and even a set that is specifically for African features.
I really like this look of this figure:

BUT I don't know if the artist baked on pubes or not...
Likewise, what character texture is in the first image of this product:

?
Also at least one option in the mat files that is no makeup, no tattoos.
For the male, no baked in 'super muscles', unless its an option in addition to normal. :)
(and I can live with light body hair baked onto the male, since I've never seen the ability to add that seperately).
Comments
You might find what you need in the Black is Beautiful II thread. If you can spare the time, I would recommend reading through it (even though it's now 36 pages long!), since different aspects of different textures are discussed, and the thread also contains a lot of renders that might be helpful.
Marie Elite doesn't have any baked on body hair, but she does have eyebrows.
I don't think I've ever seen muscles baked into a texture -- not one that was meant to be realistic, anyway.
Hope this helps.
Below are a few good African characters. I don't believe they have scars.

Have you taken a look at Raw Voodoo by Rawart? Or what Recieup makes on Rendo? It's surely the best African-oriented vendor I know. Of course, other PAs do dark-skinned characters from time to time and they often look very good. Raiya, for instance, has a few chocolate-skinned ladies of various ethnicities.

Some great references here. Benjamin for G1 is my favorite, I use him on g2M quite a lot, but I also have a lot of these others. The Black is Beautiful threads are always your friends when finding more options for creating realistic people of African descent.
I've got some face morphs to add to those options, but I don't sell character skins at this time.

One of the best morph packages for Gen2M/Gen2F! I focused on skins, my bad .
I keep finding funny moments like this... it says I purchased that one...
There was a brief moment a few years back when I almost got back into 3D - I think I bought a few things I knew I would want if I got active again... but never installed them as my 3D machine at the time was dead (I was lucky to extract the hard-drive).
And the funny thing is, this is one I asked about up-thread - where I asked "Likewise, what character texture is in the first image of this product:"... :)
She's perfect for my needs. So now I've got a base female (2 of them because I grabbed:

last night, as that was $4).
And it looks lie you've all given me good suggestions on the male options.
I have the African head morphs for G2F, and need to get them for the male now too.
ps: Scar was a bad word choice for what I meant. More like - wide variation in tone / color across the face, seeming to go beyond just highlights / shadows.
The scars on zen a up there - intentional markings in one of the skin options - those are actually a bonus for me.
(I used to know a guy who had ritual scars like that too - one of my mother's study partner's when she went back to university in my teens.)
