    I think I broke something.
Slaying the Dragon Bundle, Interactive Lesson, Show Aspect Frame.
The menu item is blocked and wont let me turn it on. I'll try to continue without it, and just hope that is just being pointed out as there rather then needed later on.

This step is not needed, just click past it. You'll be fine.

Night Elves, Hmmm. This looks like a nice set for G2F by "IgnisSerpentus". Yes It Is A SET.

I have no idea if there is anything else that is needed to make a figure like the one in the promo pic (It predates that Store Option), Like the hair style used. The description of each is excellent tho.

    http://www.daz3d.com/dark-elves-for-genesis-2-female-s
Is just the figure, and skin/makeup/eyes product.
Eye Options, Conforming Elven Eyebrows, Body Textures.

Bodysuit , Bracers, Hood, Legs, Quiver, Bow, Arrows. It Looks like a complete set.

(I'll update this as soon as I look at what I just got, if needed. Comments, thoughts, etc are still welcome)
(Edit 1) Thanks DestinysGarden for the insight. I look forward to trying out this set.

The outfit works without the character. IgnisSerpentus is excellent about including fits for pretty much every base figure and popular morphs that are available at the time when she does her clothing items. Look at the "what's included and features tab" for the full list. I know she mentioned the hair used in the Dark Elves promos at one time. I'll let you know when I track down the info. I think it may have been a hair by Aery Soul that is no longer available and was not ever sold here.

Thanks DestinysGarden. The transaction is still going threw my bank... I don't like to pick up merchandise until I know it is completely paid for completely. I don't do credit or promises, I deal in cash. lol.

I didn't see the list include some newer figures, Like Aiko6 or Olympia 6. So I was unsure.
    Victoria 6, Girl 6, Aiko 4???, Aiko 5???, Stephanie 5??? TheGirl 4???, etc.
some of those are not native G2F figures, lol

Ah yes, ArenSoul, there is an outfit I want the Bracers from, and also not sold at Daz, lol.

Perhaps as the Servers and QA filter threw, and the store will start to fill with lots of good stuff. Is hoping.
The last two months when I had spare funds, the other place was still down for upgrades. I have so much to learn in the mean time, so no rush.

Yeah, I see what you mean about the supported figure list being confusing. Aiko6 and Olympia6 were not out at the time that outfit came out, so they wouldn't be included. As far as the legacy shapes also being supported, that would be for if you had one of these handy packs by Slosh, or something similar.

*Note: This set contains only head and body shapes. It does not include UVs for skin textures or AutoFit clones for clothing.
    http://www.daz3d.com/sales-promotions/generation-4-legacy-shapes-for-genesis-2-female
V4 shapes for G2F, and you can't use it for clothing. When are we going to get a pack that will let us use figures, AND there clothing on another generation. like "Generation 4 Legacy Shapes AND AutoFit Clones for G2F" (End of rant)

I think I know what your were referring to DestinysGarden, they just word the packs so similar to the other that dose what you want.
Generation X, or something like that.

Yeah, I see what you are getting at, but the auto fit clone would be if you want the shape to show up in the auto fit option box. If the figure has a shape morph, and the clothing has a fit for the body shape, it *should* work. You wouldn't be using the auto fit, you would be using the clothing's fit morph. (Individual results may vary.)
I was thinking about picking up those shape sets, and the ones for Gen2Male. I'll let you know what I find.

For myself personally, I typically don't spend a lot of energy on transfer utilities, as I prefer to use items made specifically for the base figures. It saves me time and headaches. I do however understand the value of the various utilities out there, (I've bought enough of them) especially if you have a bunch of perfectly good content made for older figures, the exact item you want doesn't exist for the new figures, or you need to stretch your dollar. Each person's workflow is largely personal. I applaud your desire to learn and figure stuff out in your own way.

This is all largely hypothetical in regards to Iggy's outfit and character. If you are using Gen2F, you are golden. Did you get it downloaded yet? I'm waiting on renders. :cheese:

Heh. It's all good. If you can't rant in your own thread, where can you rant? ;-)

I'm over in Minnesota, but I knew about the storms in that area. At my day job I'm a travel agent and we had a bit of mess today trying to re-accommodate people with cancelled flights. Stay safe and dry.

No pressure on the renders. I'm just hanging out in the forums while I wait for 6gb of content to download and install. Then I figure I have about 2-3hours of work on my new project(s) ahead of me before I get to bed.
    cheers!

Thanks for the info on the adapters. As for that Dark Elf set, Fw Eve renders quicker in test runs then the Dark Elf figure. Much quicker.
It's been sitting there for twenty-five minutes now.
    hello, hello computer... lol.

I'm going to need to change the wall textures, was working on the floor again and wanted something to reflect that was cool. Like the bridge of the Nostromo from Alien.

    and Midnight Huntress outfit.

There is so much I could have done, yet the render would fall on it face the instant it got to that blue skin. The render time being the only down side I found so far, and given were talking thirty minutes extra for the blue skin tone, not bad at all.

The Midnight Huntress outfit, as is seen in my former post, dose not add any "Face-Plant" time to renders that I could tell. There are some color preset options I didn't try yet.

Backdrop pics, from developing this amplifier.

I just cranked the bucket size up to 128 (MAX), and now it is at least doing the rest of the scene as it figures out the blue skin. Strangely it was the only thing that helped with that "Staff Of Render Hell". I'm going to let this render now, chat later y'all. Enjoy and don't be shy to post comments.

background photo by me, from the top of "Blue Job Mountaint", right next to that Jeep, lol.

After fiddling with poses a bit, I quickly came to the realization that the midnight huntress "Bodysuit" is a tad on the raveling side with allot of camera angles and poses. I mended that by using the G2F starter kit underwear, and changing the colors to closely match the rest of the suit.

As for the render times with that blue skin texture, it seams to be a render setting that limits the number of threads somehow. Either 96 or 128 buckets seamed to mend this (96 was optimum for this computer).

Now honestly, I have no idea how that Bow would be 'Slung' when it is not being used. I guessed, there about looks good enough, lol.

Raptors, Micro-Raptors and other creatures of that type are on Rendo sold by DynoRaul the very best at it. They have moved on from the megafauna to just the plants themselfs but there models are pretty much the standard for the critters.

EDIT: Not 100% on the user name, they are so good they are very pricey.

Thanks so much for the hints, I think I found the Rapters (Deinonychus), Dinoraul has lots of Rapters. That is not that expensive relatively speaking. Not all of them are for Daz Studio tho.

As for "Enantiornithes". I think I even found one close to Microraptor (M. zhaoianus). The little fella named Archaeopteryx, or for CG stand-alone figures "ArchaeopteryxDR" by Dinoraul. I just need to make the back leg feathers longer, and change there colors a tad.

I may even be able to morph it into the evil "Sinornithosaurus" with more experience. That would be an Evil 'Familiar' perched on the shoulder of one of my figures, lol. I'll settle for the Insect-chasing Microraptor (M. zhaoianus).

*Not my render. I think there cool because they resemble a Phoenix with the long tail (Flight Feathers), and there real.

My ZDG box v7.0, the place I make things, and test stuff.

The box itself is just simple primitives cubes 1foot in size, scaled up in the specific XYZ size needed to make the floor walls and ceiling. For example the floor is X 40,000%, Y 100%, Z 40,000% to make a 40ft x 40ft floor 1ft thick. It is placed Y -30.84% to make the top approximately flush with the world 0% level. The ceiling is close enough to twenty feet up, to make room for lights in the box.

The Spotlights are the Dz ones, and used at will to apply shadows, halo effect, and fill as needed.

The giant panels that span the width of the box are the "Uber Panel Light Cam" combo things that Szark described how to make in his thread (pic numbered "3" on the first post)
    http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/14536/

I used the "Scaling" on the panels to make the size needed to get an even light across the entire room (From a well controlled and known precise location).

Now this is where I start, It is not how I do every single render, nor is it an absolute nonadjustable light setup. It just gives me something to work with, that I know how to use, so I can focus on the project rather then fussing with lights that I have no clue why there doing whatever.

Some pretty cool stuff here! I've been working on a setup that's kinda similar to that box myself. Though in mine the box is literally just a cube primitive; I've focused more on the lights themselves.

I don't have one of them fancy texture programs, so separate walls and floors makes it easy to change the textures. And before that, I didn't know you could be in a primitive, lol. Old habits I guess, from "WorldCraft" for quake (1).

About those texture programs. I looked at several a few months back, and either I didn't understand what I was looking at, or they were not what I was looking for. Several 'Light' versions and a few free ones, and they all seamed to be flaunting there ability to work with figure skin. I'm looking for something far more simpler, like cubes, cylinders, and spheres. The most complex may be Equipment racks, and Truss-work. Stuff that doesn't even need SSS properties. Perhaps in a bit, I will look again.

It's been a mixed night, I did a mid-quality full size render as I slept, only to wake up and realize I didn't pose the "Over Skirt". So that is rendering again.

Also, my apologies Trish. The Rapters were not rendered by me. Tho I would love to know how they did the lighting as well, even tho I don't have a 3Delight mainframe to run it on.

I suppose I should let this comp render, and get some things done around the house. chat in a bit y'all.

That semi-transparent mask on the floor took forever to render, understandingly.

This was a brief experiment with opacity maps with an Uber-panel under the floor. I really like the effect, and it worked better then I expected. I will need to do much more experimentation with this, and briefly figure out if the maps will work at all with a regular 'Plane'.

I didn't do anything to the Uber-Panel, other then make it 200% original size, and drop it below both floor sides. The rest of the floor is backed by empty space, except for the one vertical beam in the back.

Well I'm off to play with this a tad more, chat later y'all.
    (edit)
"O" by the way, that is Aiko6, and (DAZ 3D, Silver, Countess) Riven, sporting the latest Wilmap "Party Dress". Dress, "Over Skirt", and Fur top (Bolerouv). Very nice, Thanks Wilmap.

Sorry to go MIA on you for a few days. It was that Real Life thing you talked about in post 2.

I really like the render in post 43. You got some excellent reflections on the floors and walls and the super saturated colors make it look very high tech. Were you using UberArea lights in that picture? The Age of Armour Subsurface Scattering Shader, used on the blue skin, can sometimes interact strangely with the area lights, making render times long as you noted.

    From post 44
"Lighting is from “Day at the Beach Bundle” unedited, yea I cheated this time."
It's not cheating to use a pre-existing light set. That is why people make 'em. ;-)
Fun picture! "My stick is bigger than your stick." LOL. The light looks good for an outdoor scene, and your photo is perfect in the background. I've taken a bunch of pictures of the sky whenever I see interesting clouds for just that purpose.

From the last post here, I really like what you did with the floor. Clever.

What sort of textures are you trying to make? You certainly don't need a "fancy texture maker," but knowledge of some kind of 2D image program is recommended. Photoshop/Photoshop Elements usually get mentioned first, so I have done that now. I use PaintShop Pro which can regularly be attained for under $50. Gimp is free and also used by many people professionally. It sounds to me like you are looking to generate seamless tiles for use in backgrounds, and all of these can do such things, and then some.

Sorry to go MIA on you for a few days. It was that Real Life thing you talked about in post 2. Understandable, I took a break from Daz as well yesterday. I needed to finish that deck railing two years ago, and weather and timing conspired against me, lol. Perhaps in two years I'll replace the deck planks, lol.

I was trying to cheat (I'm lazy) and not mes with Many primitives to make a grated floor, or Truss. How many primitives would it take to make a 1x1 foot grated floor panel with 1inch spacing, two much work compared to making a few lines in Ms Paint.. That and I want something cooler looking in the render then a simple great. The floor light idea, came from three things. Data Center Raised Floor Cooling, Rased floor layout plan, And an interview I watched regarding the "Stargate Universe" set with lights under the floor. Hmmm. I can make the tiles, and then place them in paint for the floor layout, then send that to Daz Studio.
    (edit)
added pic of what is under the planks on the deck. Yes those are I-beams made of 2x4's.
Textures, well, after the structural cheating. Simple polished stone, metal, ceramics (Shuttle tiles)... eventually. I'm having fun learning how the stuff in the surface tab works for now.

I have no idea how many primitives it would take to make a 1x1 foot grated floor panel. I guess it depends on how many square feet your floor is, heh-heh. Again, it is not "cheating" to make a patterned texture for your floor. It is called using the tools at your disposal.
I've seen some of your detailed pixel work using MS Paint, so I speculate on what you could with a more robust utility.
(Is it just me, or was the old MS Paint way better than the "upgraded" one? In my opinion, they lost the ease of use for manipulating pixels by adding "features" that no one who was actually using MS Paint needed or cared about.)

I have no idea how many primitives it would take to make a 1x1 foot grated floor panel. I guess it depends on how many square feet your floor is, heh-heh. Again, it is not "cheating" to make a patterned texture for your floor. It is called using the tools at your disposal.
I've seen some of your detailed pixel work using MS Paint, so I speculate on what you could do with a more robust utility.
(Is it just me, or was the old MS Paint way better than the "upgraded" one? In my opinion, they lost the ease of use for manipulating pixels by adding "features" that no one who was actually using MS Paint needed or cared about.)

I never added a link to that thread here.

YES, I'm using the XP version. They completely butchered the Win7 version. No right-click color, line cant do single-pixels, etc.

I know "PhotoDeluxe" like the back of my hand, It dose not function on Windows7, so I'm forced to use Gimp. That will be something for another day.

I have managed to do that much with Gimp, almost exactly as shown. That is as far as I got so far with Gimp.

I really like the render in post 43. You got some excellent reflections on the floors and walls and the super saturated colors make it look very high tech. Were you using UberArea lights in that picture?

Oops, forgot that. Yes that is with three Uber Panel things, in the very "Box" described above. #48
