1.0 Extended Use License ( this means you can use them for commercial use - with some cavearts, of course.)
    2.0 Personal Use License Only

I add my own License as a read me because I wouldn't want anyone, taking my product/freebie and trying to sell it on it own or as part of another product.

I have a feeling you may have misinterpreted 'Extended Use License' - and I think the one that actually locks things down is 'Editorial Use Only'

You can review the licensing details here: https://www.renderhub.com/info/3d-content-licensing

If you are seeing anything other than: 'Extended Use License'  - let me know ( I am very happy for my freebies to be used for commercial projects / renders etc. )

What is actually displaying on the coin is the following license:

    Extended Use License (IP Restricted)

This item comes with our Extended Use Licensing. This means that you may use the model in a variety of mediums and applications. But, because certain intellectual property depicted in this model may not be affiliated with or endorsed by the original rights holder, this model is subject to an Editorial Use Only Restriction which limits the ways in which you may use this model.

    emphasis added.

Another vendor I've spoken with had to contact Renderhub support to figure out how to get it changed to a default Extended Use License.

  • Oh that is very interesting......I'll have a look into this right now.

  • So, this get's even more interesting.

The original ZBrush file I created for this was done in 2021 - it was something I wasn't happy with so I left it.

Now, I didn't draw that Dragon and used sourced clipart/graphics ( it was a packed of Alpha's purchased from Artstation ). I'm also a copyright freak, so there would be no legalities around the use of the image as the pack was purchased under 'Extended Commercial License.'

What I find most fascinating is that none of my other freebies have that message, and because I only uploaded this last night, I feel that RenderHub must be using some form of AI scanner to inspect submissions.

Now comes the grey area...because of the process, does the ( IP Restricted ) statement still stand...if so how does this affect any products created for commercial created with commercial use resources...( it shouldn't from what I know )
I will send RenderHub an email...

    This is very fascinating.

  • From RenderHub support:

" When items are uploaded they need to go through an approval process--not by AI, but by an admin.

They are automatically assigned IP restricted until they are approved which takes about 1-2 days. I have gone ahead and approved the product and it should be corrected now. "

So all good to go for commercial use :)

Yay!  Well I certainly learned something then.  I've been seeing so many freebies on Renderhub with that IP restricted note.  I guess I'd better go back and see if some of them have changed, it would be amazing to be able to use more cool stuff!  Thank you so much for looking into it and explaining/fixing it, I will happily be downloading your freebies now :)  And thank you vwrangler for clarifying and adding to what I said, you made it much easier to understand, lol! XD

You and me both...I had never paid attention to that before.

I feel pretty confident after what we've learned they would be. Ideally now, if you see a new freebie, just wait a couple of days for actual confirmation.
