    Hopefully, yes! :)

I hope that my Carrara family (or anyone else for that matter) doesn't get the notion that I'm dropping Carrara, but I'll be taking a different look at things this next time around.

Busy testing and rendering, rendering and testing... having a lot of fun - albiet one tidbit of hours at a time.

Great to see you, my friend!

So glad you checked in, Buddy.

    Wow.

Rosie got a trial for HBO MAX, during which time I was able to watch the whole season of "Blade Runner: Black Lotus" (season 2 should be coming 2023)

It left HBO shortly after, and it's been driving me crazy. So I checked on VUDU. Sure enough. Bought it!

    Here's the official trailer:

If you're still not convinced, the studio (Crunchy Roll) has the first episode up on YouTube as a promo:

Blade Runner: Black Lotus is a season-long animated TV show - [adult swim] / Crunchy Roll

Anyone wanting to get into animating characters for video should really watch this. It has a lot to take in, like:

    • Amazing story, through and through
    • Assorted render styles - might be tough to pick up on without looking for it, but it shows clever ways to get footage done with faster render times for some things
    • Excellent use of FACS, or FACS-like performance capturing. Very nicely animated emotions and speech
    • Very nice assortment of excellent characters
    • Very nice use of colors, pacing, music....

Episode 10's lounge singer (no spoilers here) is amazingly expressive with a very unique FACS set. Blew me away, as if I already wasn't completely immersed in 3d rendered bliss!

I find it funny that I found this just now. I am working on one of the future world settings and have been using the original and new Blade Runner movies for inspiration, along with Johnny Mnemonic.

Blade Runner: Black Lotus fits in with the original and the new Blade Runners very nicely. They really held well to the art, cinematography, and music, along with the incredible story: "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?", by Phillip K Dick. Very Well Done!!!

Along with that, here's another excellent work that I've been taking in - again, for inspiration:

Here is an early Sneak Peek at Rosie in this setting - a setting where she has a lot more costumes than some of her other cinematic climates

This particular costume is much different now. It took quite a bit to get her to this phase, but now she's advancing like crazy.

Girl's got some cyberpunk skills!!! :)

See how her legs are short and her feet are too small?

Well, for most of her Fanasy and Sc-Fi costumes, I have her wearing the boots from Aeon Soul's Y'vas Outfit for Genesis 8 Female

The thing is, Rosie is Genesis 3 Female currently, and the boots don't fit properly. So I made a special material zone on Rosie that allows me to quickly hide the parts of her legs and feet that don't fit, and it looks great - but I needed to shorten the legs and shrink the feet.

So for this version of Rosie, I've made a preset that I can click to quickly reset her feet and legs to the proper size/length. I love the simplicity of making helpful time-savers in Daz Studio! I really do!

So anyway, the above image of Rosie was one from an early test rendered animation which has shown me the error, so I fixed it now.

It's going to take a bit before I can show more of her new self, but she's coming!

I've been working with Studio for a while now (still a newb!!! LOL) so I've got a lot more respect for it than ever. It took a lot of workflow change, but I think it's worth it for doing what I'm doing, which is trying to (eventually) make movies all by myself.

I love looking at the credits at the end of movies, and yet it also makes me ask myself: Why am I attempting this?

Blade Runner: Black Lotus has an impressive team. It would be fun to work (or even just visit for a week) with a team like that during crunch time - which I'd imagine is always.

The answer is quite simple, however:

    • I don't go to the bar (unless I'm being paid to play drums)
    • I find it relaxing
    • I love learning all of these new techniques from all of you!
    • I love buying content when I can (Daz + gives me a lot for free)
    • I love animating, assembling characters, environments, props, etc., and applying materials to them
    • I love seeing results that tell me to keep on going with this!

Can't wait to show it off!!!

All of that said, Genesis 9 has got me really hyped!!!

It's still way too early for me to start in full force, but I've experimented enough (and bought "Growing Up for Genesis 9") to know that my wearables presets that I've made for my Genesis 3F Rosie load right up onto her - like a charm!!!

Funny that they now have FACS built into the figure's dials. I did that for Rosie 7 as well! I love it!

Gonna need an animation converter though....

FYI - Genesis 9 works in Carrara as a blended character preset.

    Details in this thread.  https://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/597316/genesis-9-we-are-back-in-the-game-carrara-users/p1

And you will be able to take your previous genesis-based Rosie shapes and convert them to Genesis 9 Full Body Morphs.  Video explaining the details in same thread.

Here is the Genesis 8 Mummy converted to a FBM morph for Genesis 9 and then loaded and posed in Carrara.  No shaders applied.  Was just a test of the shape and the rigging.

A single frame of animation, this is Andrey Pestryakov's Stones and Structures.

I've added The Philosopher's iReal Ocean System to animate the water. Using Andrey's water shader made it fit this river perfectly!

    My Pleasure!

    I Love this stuff!

Working diligently ever forward, that show (BR: Black Lotus), like The Clone Wars and other great works have inspired me to no end.

Black Lotus just came along to me - and it came just at the right moment to lead me into the very next scene that I needed to work on - well, inspirational-wise. There are some really tender/touching moments in there that  really helped me to solve a pacing problem with my story. So bring in some tender moments myself, she comes in out of the rain and gets comfy while her clothes dry:

On the Crazy-Realistic side of animation, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Worlds is top-to-bottom Filled with amazing digital characters that we often forget are CG as we soak in the feature:

The "Pearl" race are just amazing!

Even the male Pearls have female motion capture actors to give them a more graceful, elegant motion - and it works beautifully. I love this film!

    Just a friendly reminder,

Dimension3D's Genesis Generation X2 is one amazing friend to have!

I'm still using some of the amazing morphs I've bought for Victoria 4, now on my Genesis 3 figures, and they come across to the target figure so perfectly... I just love it!

I had originally bought it to add Genesis 2 and 3 shapes to Genesis, along with my V4 morphs, and that is crazy-awesome as well! It's such a powerful thing, and it works on the fly - any time we want a new morph dial!

Since Dimension3D has entered the next part of the journey away from this plane, I happened upon Riversoft Art's Character Convertors to and from Genesis 8 and so forth and, while they work quite differently, those things Rock too! So with a bit of patience and forethought, we can run our shapes from Generation 3 (Aiko 3, etc.,) through Genesis 8 (Genesis 9 coming too, I'm sure) and back again - which is really cool!

EDIT: ...and I want to try the Discobob/Zev0's XTransfer character convertors too. I really like having tools that help me to make the most out of my entire product library of character products. I liked them when I bought them, and they look really cool with these more modern figures with their Iray surfaces and so on. Really having a lot of fun here!

The version of Rosie in the two images I posted earlier uses V4, S4. Genesis, G2F and G8F shapes on a Genesis 3 Female version of the amazing Sol for G8F/G3F

Most of Rosie's added shapes from other generations come from Genesis 2 Female. Aiko 6, Keiko 6, Teen Josie 6 and more. I've also added Poke-Away 2 for Genesis 2 Females, which comes in handy, but gets used a lot less now that I'm using Fit Control (for all generations possible) along with dForce and VWD.

  • DartanbeckDartanbeck Posts: 21,624

Certain morphs that came with Stephanie Petite 4 Elite have been so useful for adding the less noticeable muscle movements in animations, like the neck smooth (which I use in the negative values) and various belly definitions and such. But GenX2 also transfers over things like expressions dials. I have a nice selection of generation 4 expressions along with any of the ones that I bought for Genesis and G2F, and then made my own "Expressions" dials using combinations of those.

Now I also have that amazing Genesis 3 & 8 Face Control Rig too!

Wow, using that thing is Nuts!!! Takes a lot of practice and patience.

I've heard that, but I disagree. I see where Luc was going with it and enjoyed the ride to the extreme.

The main two protagonists were accused of being too youthful to be taken seriously. I thought that they were outstanding! Refreshing flick for the Fantasy/SciFi nut that I are! ;)

But to each their own, I say.
