New DAZ4 install problems.

I changed my hard disk, mount the XP 32 new, all the MS updates.... all was fine and speed.

I install Hexagon 2.5, and later DAZ4 Pro.

The problem is that DAZ use 3 diretories:

- documents and settings
- C:
- programs

During the installation I tried to avoid the document and settings changing this to other one, ( documents and settings was the cause of lot of problems for my old system ) and the C: ( not a clean policy use the root ) to a subfolder of C.

All the installation was fine, I remounted all the characters and components as new, and their installers detected ok the directories that I purpossed instead the defaults. All was right. Only mention that the CONTENT seemed to detect Genesis in a different way as Michael 4 or Victoria 4, putting them in different sections.

Now I have 2 problems:

1- If I try to export an object from Hexagon to DAZ4 it does not nothing. No messages, no action, no traslation. Daz doesn't start.

2- If I try to load an existing scene of DAZ created before this installation, there are errors and the scene is not charged. The log file says a lot of errors about it doesn't find "4_0_2" ... Genesis or "4_0_2" ... Sally Mae.

Before this clean installation of 4, I was using a 4 mounted over an old DAZ3. I don't find in a backup of this that 4_0_2 subfolder, but yes a 3_0 subfolder. I tried to copy all that content ( all the 3_0 subfolder ) but there was not changed. I renamed the 3_0 to 4_0_2. The same. Not changes.

Sugestions please.

Javier.

Genesis is in DAZ Studio format, while older figures are in Poser format, so they show up in different parts of the Content Library.

It sounds like you didn't restore the Data folder from your previous installation. When DS loads an item in Poser format it has to convert it to DS format. When you save the scene, the DS-format files are saved to the Data folder of the first DS-format content folder.

If you don't have your old Data folder, you need to load the Poser versions, inject morphs if needed, and save it as a dummy scene in order to recreate the missing data. You don't need to pose or apply mats, just load everything you need on top of each other and save the dummy scene.

Thank you Mike. I will search the old data folder. About the problem of Hexagon that doen't launch DAZ4, I suppose that the response will be inatall Hexagon again. I will do that. Hexagon is much more easy to install.

If I have problems again about this questions... continue in this topic or open another one ?

That is not the problem.... 5 hours later. New tests and uninstall / reinstall of DAZ 4. The old DATA folder was installed.

For example I have a scene created before this new problems from my own forms/props made it with Hexagon 2.5. All them. And all them in the same directory. No possible characters ( poser / no poser ) conflict, or directory conflict. All the work made it with Hexagon is in that directory, and all the work made it with DAZ is in that directory.

I can see that directory in DAZ4 in my CONTENT library as a scene, but when I try to load appears an error, and a large list of errors like this:

Unable to find file for storable: data/4_0_2/rejilla2/rejilla2/geometry_e4b7e7d9_9f35_f558_561a_432b9b4e06ee/geometry.dso
Unable to find file for storable: data/4_0_2/piloto/piloto/geometry_d653c629_a21d_65f9_60b0_2ac6231ed670/geometry.dso

I can load scenes created with or without DAZ characters created working with DAZ3. But I can't load scenes created working with my previous DAZ4 before the change of disk.

Can you go to Edit>Preferences>Directories>Content Directory Manager, expand both the "DS Formats" and "Poser Formats" sections, and post a screenshot? And can you give the complete path to one of the data files DS4 can't find?

    Yes Mike:

The "Su27" is a plane made it with Hexagon and saved as scene with DAZ4. The path for all his content is:
    C:\Varios\Daz 3D\Studio\My Library\SU27

As you see is in the CONTENT.

The errors for example for this scene are:

Unable to find file for storable: data/4_0_2/Form35/Form35/geometry_f8f352ec_d61b_58d4_4194_05d7c3ed0143/geometry.dso
Unable to find file for storable: data/4_0_2/llama_109928/llama_109928/geometry_10164bed_ad54_17fc_196f_f38696af09b7/llama.dso
Unable to find file for storable: data/4_0_2/llama2_109928/llama2_109928/geometry_10164bed_ad54_17fc_196f_f38696af09b7/llama2.dso
Unable to find file for storable: data/4_0_2/llama3_109928/llama3_109928/geometry_10164bed_ad54_17fc_196f_f38696af09b7/llama3.dso
Unable to find file for storable: data/4_0_2/llama2_109928/llama2_109928/geometry_10164bed_ad54_17fc_196f_f38696af09b7/llama2.dso

And can you find the file "C:\Varios\Daz 3D\Studio\My Library\data\4_0_2\Form35\Form35\geometry_f8f352ec_d61b_58d4_4194_05d7c3ed0143\geometry.dso"?

Not. As I explain before, I have not the 4_0_2 that DAZ searchs in C:\Varios\Daz 3D\Studio\My Library\data.

The most similar that I have is:

    C:\Varios\Daz 3D\Studio\My Library\data\3_0\Form35\Form35\geometry.dso
    C:\Varios\Daz 3D\Studio\My Library\data\3_0\Form35\Form35\geometry\maps\default.dsv

But it is under ...My Library\Data\3_0, but DS4 still isn't looking for it there? And if you copy it to 4_0_2 DS4 still rejects it?

The directory 4_0_2 does not exist in my disk.

I tried to create 4_0_2 in the same directory level of 3_0 and copy the form35 directory into this. But as you can see, is not the same:
    form35/geometry_f8f352ec_d61b_58d4_4194_05d7c3ed0143/geometry.dso
    form35/geometry.dso.

I don't put the names. Daz put it.
