They get more energetic at the end of the day when they are singing "Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho, it's off to home we go!"

    Loving these updates.

Stezza - I have to say again how amazed I am at the speed at which you can pump out awesome finished projects.  Wonderful to see Leon (or Leona)  getting more love.

Bunyip - Like how you've used textures to create variety without the need to resort to multiple clothing sets.  Very efficient and effective.  Nice start, will be watching for your filler as you call it.

Wendy - Understand you don't like to enter.  Rapunzel is looking good.  We'd all welcome her, and suggest she go to uni and share a room with Delilah.

Vyusur - Mystical sounds mysterious.  I'm in suspense.

    Looking for inspiration?

Since we are allowed to interpret folktale broadly, maybe folks would enjoy searching through various regional "Biggest Liars" contests.  I know that they have them in the UK and in various US states.  Willing to bet that people tell big lies elsewhere, as in wherever there are people.

Here is a story on a woman who won one of Texas's Biggest Liar contests.

This looks like a great subject Headwax!

I'm leaning towards interpreting one of James Thurber's Fables for Our Time.  laugh

I haven't read anything by him since High School, don't know why he popped in my head. So I've been reading some of them online this morning and having a good laugh.

Some mystical story will be qualified?

Hi! Certainly, a mystical story or a myth would be perfect.

Thanks for asking - ill put that in the instructions

Looking forwrad to your mystical story :)

Thank you for the reply. I was thinking about this mystical story:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mister_Designer

Which resembles myth about Pygmalion and Galatea in horror tints. But I need first to make the necessary morphs for my characters.

You mentioned this in an earlier render.  What text overlay thing are you talking about?  I assune it must be something different from simply adding text.

  • great theme @Headwax and some shaders to play with as well.. I'll give them a go today thanks

    @Diomede wow... kapow!!

here's mine... a twist on the beanstalk

    simply titled ~ Greta

Very nice, Stezza.  I liked everything, but especially the perspective and mystery lighting.

I agree, Leon works pretty well as a female. :)  A very flexible character.

thanks for the comments on Greta wink

I forgot to post the workflow..

I used the Luminance lighting set for Carrara here at Daz3d.. dunno if it's still available but a really worthwhile lightset to have.

    Postwork was done in PSE2020

Oh it's about adding resonance by including just important parts of the text , like 'quick' - invokes 'stick' and 'Jack be' etc.

My friend Janne http://www.spindelmaker.com/page/3/ used to do it a lot with her images - she often gets commisions to decorate BIG ships ;) = cant see any obvious exampls on her blog at the moment

    Concept Update -

I will keep experimenting with the piece, but I've settled on the concept.  Technology eliminates the magic mirror's job.  Pretty dark.

I experimented with Carrara's native Toon III and NPR outline renderers but this version does not use them.  For this, I combined the Coverage Pass, the Shadow Pass, and a sketch filter from filter forge to get the base composite.  In a new scene, I loaded that in the backdrop and added the caption.

Do you prefer "counting Instagram followers" or "comparing Instagram followers"?

(Everything modeled in Carrara - the woman is my Moxie figure - straight render, multipasses, and scene setup attached)

Every Fairy Tale needs a Queen...

That is a beautiful texture set, Varsel.  I have plenty of the G2F support clothing, but not the Arthurian figure.  May look for it during March Madness.

My second project will be a folktale that may be based on a real person, John Henry.  In the folk tale, John Henry is a railroad worker.  The railroad decides to try using steam powered spike drivers.  John Henry says men can do it faster and better.  He has a race against the steam drill.  He wins but he exhausts himself and dies shortly afterwards. There are old folk songs and recordings.  There is a historical marker claiming to be the place of the race.  Disney made a film.  https://youtu.be/MuNckYmnkC0

In contemplating my approach, I think I will

    - use TangoAlpha's end of the tracks set

    - model my own railroad worker clothes for genesis (meshes below)

    - model a steam drill, although I'm not sure it will make it in the image

    very cool @Diomede

I've never heard of John Henry so went a googling to learn up some.. love reading the history of these characters.. last week I even watched the ballad of Davey Crocket with Fess Parker for the first time since I was a kid, I even had the 78 LP of the same but have long since lost it.

looking forward to your progress yes
