I'd like to see extensions to Kit Body 1, just the last three segments with blunt ends so we can make a longer body out of them.
Do components snap (useful for maintaining symmetry) or are they more "freehand" (more useful for asymmetric designs, as well as for using components in alternative manners, like rescaling a wing to use it as a nacelle/pylon holder)?
Freehand. and Yes I will include parts so you can extend body parts longer. :)
So I have decided to have 5 premade starships that will come with the Kit. All starships are made from the Kit pieces so you can swap or change anything you want.
Wow. This is outstanding work! The way you have taken into consideration and acted on all of the suggestions and feedback is fantastic. There will be so many possibilities with this. Thank you. Can't wait!
Tim
I wonder if anyone has tried making a modular build kit with a retro-future feel of the sort pictures here:
https://retrofuturismblog.blogspot.com/2016/05/aircraft.html
What a fun set of articles.
retro-future feel Ooooooo I love it!!! Vehicles of that time are my favorite. Sounds like a fun Kit to build. Maybe I'll tackle it. :)
One wouldn't tell at first glance, but the original three Mass Effect games were heavily inspired by the retro look. There's a neat article about their "design language" as they call it here, which even mentiones their primary artistic inspiration from the era. Just posting, maybe it will help on your search for your own inspiration or references.
So for the Texture addon I will have 5 different colour presets you can chose from that will make you able to create many different colour combinations for your starships.
So here is one image I created with the colour combos.
Thanks for the updates and adding in the extra requests. Love the landing gear, thank you for taking on the feedback suggestions and making them a reality.
I think that is what makes a product better, listening to what people want. :)
(movie voice) "It's crazy ... but it might just work."
Remember though, that what ultimately makes a product good, still is making the product you want to make. Suggestions are only great as long as they fit in with your own own vision. :)
I completely agree 100% When you put your passion into your work it shows. :)
It's in the store now and it looks awesome!
Can't wait to combine it with the upcoming Retro Kit as well!
YOINK!
Assuming sales are good I hope you make more!
Bought! Wow, it's even better thank I imagined! Great set!
Having lots of fun with this set! Here's a little ship I've put together - added some greebly bits from other sets and some interiour stuff. (Pilot's outfit is all black, so hard to see, oh well.) Anyway, just wanted to share and say thanks for the great product!
Nice one DKrieger, I like the added details!
Thanks! :)
It's definitely fun to play with.
Matching pieces with rounded corners to pieces with more straight corners can be a bit of a pain, but a bit of camera angling can hide the most inconvenient connections.
Maybe it's my own fault though, for using the resized gun-emplacement piece as a core bodypart.
To remove transparency from the window, simply set metalicity to 1.00. Did anyone spot any Build Your Own Sci-Fi Cockpit Kit anywhere? I could definitely use one, for this set, for the retro follow up set, for AntFarm's Sky Traffic set, as well as for several older vehicles and other BYO kits I have collected over time! I think I could even make a list of suggestions for components, features and texturestyles that would be neat for such a thing.
Thank you. I have much fun with this set.
Here I squeezed the Starjet Cockpit inside Mod Cockpit1.
I finally had a chance to play around with the modular starship kit, and I have to say that it lives up to expectations. Thank you, @acharyapolina, for an excellent product.
I used DZFire's Nurnies Greebles Parts and Pieces to add a little more surface detail (which you mostly can't see because of the haze and shadow effects).
The image below is a test render. You can also see it used in a complete scene in the gallery.
Here is a concept Bounty Hunter ship I did:
This is a fun kit. I would love to see some future additions to this product.
