Andrew, thank you very much for your kind words!

So glad my humor image was taken in spirit it was intended.

Andrew, thanks for the pointer to the pencil preset.  Never realized it was there.  I may have been going in the completely wrong direction with the native NPR renderer by reducing the stroke length.

Looking 50 years back in time, June 3 1969 : Last episode of “Star Trek: The Original Series” aired

Star Trek went on to live a far longer life, and it's still kicking ! Hope Carrara does the same.

    The mandatory setup-picture.

Everything (except Lorenzo) is made in Carrara. Either in the Vertex modeler or in the plant modeler.

Live long and prosper, Bunyip!  Good one.

Due to a flood of feedback, the flavor has been flipped.  I took the opportunity to make a few other changes but nothing worth explaining.  Cake pinup entry swapped out.

    from chocolate icing

    to vanilla

  • NOT AN ENTRY

Just a bit of fun using a particle emittor to create great looking flashes of light from a 'supposedly' highly reflective surface. It's part of an animation - but I don't use YouTube anymore or have any spare space on the channel I used to upload animated gifs - so you can't see it...

    image

The particles are emitted by the '50' facing the camera and rendered separately. This is then used as an alpha map for a plane that sits in front of the camera through which the rest of the scene is viewed. It's a simple work around because Carrara doesn't have 'layers' and I don't know how easy a plug-in could do this???

Heres something else form me. I googled what happened 50 years ago and it came up with Apollo 13 mission. If you know the movie poster you can see the homage in the moon and the earth. I did this image with the idea of doing a lot of it in post.

The suit is from carrara objects folder - atrocious it is.  The helmet an M3 one available at Daz - heavily retextured. The cocpit is made from two vertex spheres bolleaned.

    M4 stars as himself.

Most postwork with ron's brushes and some tone mapping in affinity pro. Used various render passes to isolate parts for post work. The moon and earth come with carrara.

Attached is also the non postworked image. You can see where there are no details (eg bottom part of suit) I got them back by using a diffuse  pass. (you can even see m4 poking through!)

    before post work below

    diffuse pass below

I'm thinking you better start thinking of a topic for the next challenge!

    awesomeness in space smiley

Headwax - most excelent.  Thanks for posting the original and the updated.  Always learning, even if I learn slowly.  Great use of the moon etc that come with Carrara.

Dartanbeck - very cool atmospheric effects - always inspiring

Misty - so who drank the first 49 bottles off the wall?  Very clever concept.

    ...

Here is another WIP for a spaceship scene. This is the beginning of a 2nd spaceship.  You might think that this one more closely resembles a sailing ship, and you would be correct - for now.  I looked up some privateers and other sailing ships.  Threw together a composite concept which I will be altering for a more space sci-fi look.  Two ships do not yet constitute a fleet.

I love these cool concepts and your thought processes... you would make a very good gemini person yes
