I can honestly say that I have NEVER watched a video like that before. A pleasant change, eight anorak minutes, most of which I spent convincing myself that those were actual sounds coming from a machine, not a quintet of African-American singers specialising in nostalgic mimicry.
I never spent a lot of time on or around trains, and certainly not steam engines.

Glad you enjoyed it. We have Steam trains that start just a mile up the road from us and take people on tours of parts of the mountains. Ours are narrow gauge though, so little trains compared to those ones, but fun. http://www.breconmountainrailway.co.uk/

Yeah, me too. I'm trying to figure out how to get this render I'm working on to render in less than 15 hours. Maybe it's too much steam...
There is never enough steam LG just not enough time maybe you can use gulan7's trusty time machine? So that you can go back in time and push yourself out of your chair and fix all of the things you need to before you hit the render button.

If you want to change your forum name drop a PM to Richard Haseltine or adamr001, giving them a not of the email that you use to log in with and the username you would prefer (with a couple of alternatives in case the one you want is already in use.)

This is not an entry, because, quite honestly, I cannot remember what of this is free and what is paid for :) — I just like steampunk and wanted to show some of my work. This is actually for a Kickstarter card game (Guilds of Gearhaven) that should be up and running in May.

How about a steampunk car? This monster comes in at over 3 million polys. It stands at 273 megs, biggest count I have ever seen. It will render fine in Daz 3.0, but it crashes and shuts down Daz 4.6 with a major error. Don't know why.
Notice the dual rear tires. I think it is very steamy and a friend was talking about using it in his "The Shadow" series.

I like the dual rear tire idea. That also reminded me the dual front tires on the car in one of the "league of extraordinary gentlemen" movies. Funny you should mention it, I actually have a steampunk car render idea in the back of my mind, but I'm already hard at work for a different render for this contest, so that idea will have to wait for some future contest I guess. That and the Spirit of Punk train, which is fantastic, but I haven't decided exactly how to use that in a render just yet.
