Carrara native render, 

yes I did use shadow buffer and isolated hair with a no shadow light

 

Low quality Octane render

Direct lighting only 30 iterations no emitters just skylight yet it actually takes longer than the Carrara engine one

PBR was not important as going for an Angus McBride illustration look anyway

    think is a understatement
    sss slows doen the renders too
    and my favorite rara trick blurred reflections
    all the cores no helps, needs the moar giggahertzes

    the only good that has come out of my black screens issue is I have been exploring non GPU rendering more both Carrara and DAZ studio 3Delight
