8.5 Crashing on Start-up?

Hi, have just purchased and d/loaded 8.5 (version 8.5.0.243).

Running on a Mac Pro 1,1 with 16 GB RAM and Radeon 5770. OS is 10.7.5.

Get as far as 'Enter Serial Number' and as soon as I hit 'OK' it crashes. Same if I try to run in trial mode without the serial number.

Has anyone else had this and fixed it? (I saw a similar post from a couple of months ago, but no reply).

    Have you tried installing while in root user mode? I seem to recall that it helped some people, but I don't know if it was for crashing at start-up or to solve an issue with Carrara not taking the serial number.

    How did you install Carrara 8.5, via DIM or via installer?
