    yep..

doesn't matter what HDRI I use .. here is another screen shot which is just a new scene the clouds added to the scene and a HDRI added to the background.. nothing else.

it's a great plugin and I will be using it a lot for my images for sure.. yes

Very nice !!! Nice modeling and shading.

I didn't remember the series, so I googled it and I found this page:

    http://www.thepropgallery.com/filmed-in-miniature-the-models-of-ufo

Funny how they were doing it before the computer age :-)

my mind still boggled on the idl revelation.  idl makes sss settings not work?

in poser there is ibl lights.  is it another term for hdri, are they the same thing?

is hd dome like an emissive light?  can we use anything glows instead of point or directional lights?

It doesn't trigger it, but doesn't prevent direct lights of doing so.

It looks like it, but I'm not 100% sure. (I don't use Poser).

    Not really

You could if Carrara was able to read HDR images in the shader room because anything glows is based on object colors.

A new trick (for me) with hdr ...

Objects without transparency work very well - those with, not so much sad

I suppose you use a shadow catcher to sink the object in the background. For transparency to work, you would need to get a render from the top camera and use it to shade your plane. I'm afraid it's a bit tricky to arrange properly, but it should work eventually (if it's worth the effort).

    Thank you Selenita,

I do appreciate the effort to come up with some documentation (that's the part of software development I like less :-)). Doing it in steps is a very good idea.

Il will try your settings that differ from mine. One remark, my experience is that it's often best not to change the shadow percentage and leave it at 100% If the shadows are not right, the error is usually somewhere else.

Setting the HDRI brightness to 150% is pure genius. That set it just right.

Thanks for this Pilemo, and thanks to Selina for the tutorial, and to Stezza and others for reporting experiments.  I haven't had a chance to try this yet but I can see adding efficiency to some of my scenes.

do photo ies fit in somehow?  they seem immune to brightness and range settings

this is such a great little tool

If you do get the error message popup when loading the plugin, what I do is hide the items in the scene tab that I may have loaded and then load the lighting plugin and then unhide.. this is a workaround that works for me..

great plugin that is very usefull yes
