Can't Import Object

On a Mac. Click File > Import Object. Instead of Open dialog I get message that reads, "A file error has occurred (file not found).
Happens with 6.0, 6.3 and 7.
I guessing it's a path issue but can't figure out the problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Sorry, it's not clear if you are actually selecting an object or if this is happening before you even get the chance to select an object in the finder window?
Happens before I get the chance to select an object.
Yikes. Not cool. It's like your Data library got corrupted or something.
I suggest a re-install. Copy your existing asset libraries (.mat, .obp, all that good stuff) and try re-installing a vanilla Bryce... But it's REALLY odd that this would affect all three serving versions of DAZ Bryce, as they're installed as separate and distinct apps.
You caught me at the end of reinstalling 7 Pro. I can now select an object.
After selecting an object I now get the message, "A file error has occurred (i/o, bad media).
I tried downloading new objects and get the same failure.
I've seen similar messages though never from Bryce, the "I/O Bad Media" would suggest a hardware problem. A disc with a bad block perhaps.
As a long shot, try using Disc Utility to verify and if necessary repair disk permissions.
What version of the OS are you running?
What model of Mac is it?
Presumably you have Bryce installed on the Hard Drive and not a secondary drive?
Also, could you post a link to a model you're trying to d/l?
Or try a model from this page:
http://graphics.cs.williams.edu/data/meshes.xml#5
Like the 4K cube model.
Permissions get check weekly.
10.6.8 (Snow Leopard)
Mac Pro (early 2008)
Everything in on an HD.
After further testing failure to open objects isn't a global problem. I was able to open a few .dxf files. It looks like there's issues with .3DS and .obj files.
I'll try some of the files you suggested and see what happens.
