@bigh - so it's not a pool to cool off after the sauna but a place for skating. Cool.

@Lord Ganthor - the ice looks great. Very cold and slightly depressing picture. Well done.

Depressing? Really? I really didn't think about that...but now that you mention it...It's not, really. She's just going into hibernation. She'll be back in the Spring, just like everything else. All green and beautiful...

What I can't figure out is that the posted image has sort of a purple-ish hue to it while my original render was more on the blue side. This seems to happen to me a lot.

Are you viewing your post on the same monitor you created it on? Different monitors often have varying colors and brightness levels.

Yes, same monitor, although it's getting along in years. I've noticed this problem more after the shift to the new forums so I suspect that might be part of the problem. It also might be how I save my images out of a creaky old version of Photoshop. I may try alternate methods just to see. Thank you for your interest.

It is comforting to know that she'll revive in spring. It's just she looks so cold - but then, that's the topic here and I couldn't say you've missed it. Yes, the ice is a bit on the purple side (may be the sky) while the frozen lady is rather grey.

@mermaid: Really like what you've done in that image. Looks like someone will get their fill. But which one?

@bigh: That image keeps getting better at each posting.

@Lord Ganthor: A beautiful scene. Wings really look good.

Nice one, Mermaid...I guess you might title this one..."THAWS" ;)

    Jay

From Dave’s comment in the Render thread, I’m not sure if Jay was hinting that my entry does not fit the challenge and I may have been naïve not to see it. :red:

Okay guys help me out here. So do I change the name again or is there something in the render that needs fixing.

Mermaid we try and keep the Challenge entry themes non specific, so that many diiferent things could fit in. So I don't think Anyone thinks that your entry doesnt. match the theme.

"I’m not sure if Jay was hinting that my entry does not fit the challenge..."

Mermaid...no, no, it wasn't a hint at all...I think it suits the challenge ideally. I was really playing with word soundings - 'Jaws' as from the film, and your frozen shark...'Thaws' ;)

    Apologies, for the misunderstanding.

    Jay

Thanks Pam and Jay for the replies.

I’m happy that my entry is okay, and it’s just a misunderstanding… reading too much into Dave’s comment …. talk about old age ;-)

Ah, but don't you enjoy the senior moments, I do. It is always great to have an excuse. No one ever believed I could have blonde moments, being a redhead (well I was once, has faded now) but are quite prepared to believe in senior moments.

@Pam: Ummm...Pam...something must have happened at your end when you posted that last post. The text was so small I had to get a magnifying glass just to read one part. ;-)

Oh Dear, wonder what happened there. Next time I had better type it in invisible ink (like this comment) so as not to confuse you.

Besides the aches and pains and complaints from the grandchildren that I spend more time playing with Bryce than with them, I am enjoying my golden years. It something most of us look forward too. ;-)

I had a dreadful shock last year, discovered that I had somehow become a greatgrandma. Not sure quite how that happened. I keep trying to tell people that my offspring are very precocious.

I might have better luck if you did use invisible ink.

We had our first grandchild last year, she's not 16 months. And of course, I wouldn't say anything but she's as cute as a button.

I have 8 grandkids, my 2 sons are not just precoious they are also prolific, and also have quite a few step-grandkids around as well, lets see there are 5 from my Stepchildren, and one who is Neil's stepdaughter. Luckily for me the Steps have mostly lost touch else Christmas would be unaffordable. Sometimes I envy my brothers, as the eldest had 3 sons, but so far only one has reproduced, and the youngest never had any of his own, although he does have stepchildren, and a stepgrandson.

I've got 2 step granddaughters (I raised my stepson since he was 6, so I technically consider him mine!). Those girls are the love of my life. Wouldn't have it any other way. :)

Mermaid010 - I think your scene is cool. Definitely Frozen theme. The bear looks like he's amazed at the ice shark and keeping well away.

Horo the iced trees are looking very convincing now, Just something about the arrangement of trees needs tweeking to make it a more interesting scene - perhaps a tree layout that draws the viewer's eye in to a distant point ( maybe with a ground/human eye-level perspective?)

Bigh may I request some more lighting on the front of that cute snowy house, and rescale things to make the house /human/tree a touch smaller and nearer pond, and pond bigger? Because the reflections are going to look oh so cool.

Lord Gnathor - your ice lady scene is really lovely! wouldn't change a thing (but if you want, some of Brinnan / Horro style frosting on the trees perhaps?)
