How important to you is it that your scene be done completely within Bryce?

Because you can do this stuff a lot faster with greater flexibility with After Effects, Combustion and several other apps.

If you decide to do it all within Bryce, you can check out the various cloud, smoke, and fluff volumetric materials available in Bryce as a starting point, however note that it may take a lot of trial and error to find and adjust a material to your liking, and render times will be extremely long when working with these materials. Note that when two volumetric materials overlap you can usually see the overlap, so you may need to work around this. Perhaps to minimize it you can use a cone for the main exhaust, then a single cloud slab (flattened cube) for the rest of it, rather than trying to piece it all together from lots of little clouds?
You could also paint up an image and apply it to a flat plane. That would probably be a lot easier and less painful, but of course it would be 2D, which may or may not work (or may not appeal to you) depending on what you want to do with it.
