Changing eyelashes?

I didn't pay attention to the eyelashes for months, and suddenly today, while doing a close-up, I realized that G8F had absurdly long eyelashes. I expected to be able to replace them by the eyelashes of some other G8 figure, but it doesn't seem possible (let's rather say : I couldn't do it). For instance, I see several morphs called "figurename lashes apply", but clicking on them doesn't seem to do anything.

So, how does one replaces the eyelashes of a figure?

Genesis 8 has broken lashes for both female and male, but you won't know unless you do extreme closeups.

Interesting that the Hellboy kit has new geometry and, from the description, it adds a "Realistic 3D volume of individual fibers". Cool!

I had been thinking of drawing my own, very thin dark lines in a vector drawing program like Corel Draw and from there, exporting as a large TIFF file, eg. with a transparent channel. From there I would load the TIFF file into an image editor that supports layers, and resize it to suit.

I... thought this approach might be necessary for certain close-up, "portrait" type, fashion renderings of figures - eyelashes and eyebrows. Not sure. Didn't know that someone had already been there and that the issue has been addressed!

Hmmm...The close-up of eyelashes appearing on this pic doesn't look at all like the eyelashes I've seen, that seemed about twice as long... I'm wondering if there could be a problem with my eyelashes (say, I moved some slider somewhere that makes eyelashes much longer).....

How do I choose? I'd be tempted by the second, since it covers 3 generations of character, both males and females, works in both Iray and 3dlight, and has a randomizer. Any reason why I should rather buy the first?

  • First you have to delete the original eyelashes of your model and then try one of the following products suggested by these users and apply them to your model.

I am surprised that nobody has suggested this, but if you select G8F in your scene and go into the Parameters tab, then type "lashes" (minus the quotes) into the search box and hit the little magnifying glass button, you should see a number of options for the lashes. Amongst them are two sliders: Eyelashes Length Upper and Eyelashes Length Lower. Adjust to taste.

(P.S. While you are in the Parameters tab with all the lash settings shown, you should have a look to see if any of the other dials are in a non-zero position. That might help explain the issue that you are experiencing.)

About making a choice, my experience has been that if you don't like something that you bought in the store, you can ask for a store credit or refund.

Regarding the above suggestion about the Parameters pane, I personally haven't worked with G8F very much, but I do indeed see those choices on my system. Interesting!

Also in the Content Pane there is indeed an "Anatomy" category for this figure, and clicking on that does indeed produce "Genesis 8 Female Eyelashes" which is labelled as an "Attachment". G3F and G2F doesn't have this choice.

And in my case "Eyelashes Curl" is set to 100 by default, in the parameters, and so are "Length Upper" and "Length Lower".

You can also edit the limits so they go beyond 100 or -100.

This is the most useful comment that I've seen in this thread, and it was exactly what allowed me to fix a similar problem. Thanks, @SiXds !
