by file path, i meant when adding a ds content folder to carrara tray, the data folder needs to be at top
content or my library,
also double check you see 'people' folder and not 'daz people' folder
In my previous comment I left a screenshot of how I have everything, although according to what I saw, they are the correct routes.

it looks to me those directories that say runtime are poser runtimes.
i dont use the default My Library. my top folder is GN8 content, data is a direct subfolder

Is it something vital that has that name or is it something totally optional?

Is it necessary to have Genesis 3 for Carrara to use Genesis 8 for Carrara?
I ask because I see in the images that appear the figures of Genesis 3 for Carrara.
g3 and g8 are separate starter essentials. separate installs.
i have multiple ds library folders. i don't want to have to back up my entire ds library every time i add a g8 morph. i've been here 10 years, a lot of gigabytes over the years. lol
where your directory says 'My Daz Library', mine is 'G8 content', just my way of organizing.
carrara understands relative paths. as long as data is at the top of the tree where you load the character from, carrara will find it.
and i should mention *the preset does not have the toe morph fix built in.

And I know what it's like to grab Daz content especially when it's free or at a huge xD discount.

what happens if you try to load a basic wear item from the g8 starter essentials?

PS: If I try to boot the basic elements of genesis 8 essentials (either genesis 8 female or male), carrara just quits without throwing any errors.
try a clothing item from the basic wear.
this will test if the folder is attached to the carrara tray as a daz folder.
Genesis 8 female clothes yes do load:

Yes, everything is in the folder "MY DAZ 3D LIBRARY"
i cant think of any other reason why the clothes will load and the preset doesn't.
same path pretty much covers it.
I do not know if this is related to the problem, but the trial version I am using is not from Carrara 8.5.1.19 but from Carrara 8.5.0.243
I just couldn't find a trial version of Carrara 8.5.1.19
g8 uses the udim uvs, not sure what version added support
and is there no way to bring some genesis 8 figure by fbx or other format to carrara from daz?
(without losing the bones or morphs)
