I remember Battle of the Planets. Even as a kid, I thought there was something off about the show. Turns out I was right. Because censorship rules were so draconian back then, they had to almost completely re-write the show. All craft that got destoryed were "robot drones" and "Nothing to see here, folks!" style exposition would be used to hand-wave away character deaths. During an episode of Catchaman where two of the characters were having a straight up "I f-ing HATE you!" fist fight, the BotP version instead showed two minutes of that stupid Seven-Zark-Seven robot doing bugger all, like flying paper airplanes and pushing buttons. For reasons that were never officially explained, Jinpei, the youngest member of the team, was re-written into some mutant that can only speak in weird noises.

We got a not-quite-as-butchered-as-Gatachaman dub of it in the US renamed "Tranzor Z". It flew so far under the radar here, that there's like ONE long abandoned fan page forthat version. I hear Hawaii got an exclusive, much more faithful English dub. Pretty sure the Tranzor Z version could be counted as "lost media" as it never got a home video release in any official form.
