They are in the Forbidden Zone. These are blighted areas that are subject to rogue technologies where people don't tend to go.  Electronics seem to malfunction there, so the only ones who can navigate it, are humans. Interestingly, aliens don't tend to like these areas either, so it isn't uncommon for people to live near forbidden zones which are walled in for everyone's safety.

They go into the forbidden zone a few times in my stories. Most noticeably, when Boyd rescues Owen, but also Boyd goes solo and gets stuck in a flooded basement, and Owen sometimes has to patrol over there. Although Owen has a hud device and two chips, he's relatively independant from electronics, and can function without them.

Hmm, I'd like such a gas station but one in working order, if not in pristine condition.

Well, there is this one: https://www.daz3d.com/last-chance-gas-station

It has an appealingly retro quality which I probably could use. I happen to like retro looking stuff.

Tate is Boyd's brilliant elder brother and the person who had the most influence on him growing up.  He is very kind to Boyd and his disappearence traumatizes Boyd growing up. Tate is quite a bit like Boyd, except Boyd is an extreme extrovert, and Tate is more interested in experimental theory.

Boyd spends a great deal of time searching for what happened to Tate throughout his adult life.

Young Boyd doesn't actually look like adult Boyd, but I couldn't resist aging Boyd down to see what he'd look like as a child.

looks similar to me, but maybe because he has those tell-tale Boyd skin coloring, hair, and bionic pieces.

Boyd proves his domestic skills by making some omelettes with instructions he downloaded to his chip from the interweb.

Since Owen and Boyd travel around a fair bit, they often tend to eat out more something that is suprisingly more affordable to do in wartime than buying food with your own rations and cooking it at home.

Boyd's taste in food evolves from his protein brain shake, to the chickenfinger stage, to being more exploratory.

Owen eats whatever is put in front of him. His grandparents taught him to cook, so Owen can throw together the basics but he has a taste for  the occasional gourmet meal.

It wasn't uncommon when Boyd first meets Owen for the young Sergeant Kelly when on leave to occasionally go off into the city, and treat himself to a gourmet meal. Something he would save up to do every few months when his budget would allow. Boyd whose sustenance options at that point were chocolate vanilla and strawberry, with the occasional exotic shake flavor from Japan found this very interesting.

On the subject of Men's releases, here is: the H&C dforce basic Jacket if you actually look for it, it is in a directory called Dforce Basic Bomber Jacket. The name is not consistent.

I was a bit disappointed in this. Right out of the box, there was a fair amoutn of pokethrough. Even dforcing the outfit didn't fix the problem. There are some nice details- if you zoom in such as the waistband and I like the drape of the sleeve.

A friend told me that they never use men's pants on men, because the men's pants are two highwater for them.  He prefers using G8F pants and use fit control.

So in the interests of science I went through my runtime of G8F clothing (I only have a few contemporary pants in there) And here are the pants from the Manhattan outfit and Manhattan Detective autofitted to the boys, with morphs applied using fit control. I do have to say, that there is a lot more detail on these pants for women, than there is on pants for the guys. Just look at the pants for the basic bomber jacket outfit.

@nonesuch00, if you're still looking for a gas station, there's one at https://sharecg.com/v/91301/gallery/21/DAZ-Studio/Gas-Station-Convenience-Store

The gas pumps are a touch antique, but other than that, it's completely modern, plus there's a bunch of other stuff.

I tend to use women's pants for effect, more than anything else, precisely because they are lower-waisted. And yes, alas, they are frequently much more detailed. It does seem that if pants are part of a set -- a suit or a shirt and pants or whatever -- most of the detail work goes into the other clothing more so than the pants.

Ok, the posing, the props...everything about this image is rather perfect.

Aww thanks. Thats' about the 11th render of that scene. It was originally in the Manhattan loft, but it just wasnt' coming together. Boyd was holding a grilled cheese, and frying some in the pan, and it just want's working. I put it away for a while, and tried something different and it at last came together!

I've been a bit disappointed with dforce menswear lately, but this set is really good: dforce H&C Pajama set for Genesis 8. It is bundled with the gal version, which I didn't really want but what can ya do.

The male verison looks and drapes well. It is not skin tight, and this exactly like the real world garment. I can't wait to recolor it and experiment with some of my funner patterns.

Okay, Boyd volunteered to show the hairs I purchased ala carte from the Sanjay bundle.

First up is the Varun hair. It has that casual feathered fullness popular in the 80's but includes some very large bushy sideburns. I rendered Boyd with reduced sideburns, but they are still large, and sort of look imbedded to me. I wish there was a way to pull them out, and perhaps add some roots so they don't look like stray bangs stuck down there.

Sanjay hair is very fine. It includes a beard, but to me the beard had a sheep's wool quality. It doesn't take my hair shaders, so I selected a color close to Boyd's natural strawberry blonde which seems redder in actuality. The blonde was too yellow.

I think I prefer Sanjay, but my inability to recolor it the hair color I want means it is likely not anything I can use with the boys.

    Manually or using the presets?

It is the first dforce hair I own. I use hair shaders to color hair typically. This product does not allow use of the shaders. When I apply them it doesn’t take. I may be able to cut and paste the hair surface from a colored hair to this product.

hmmm but it has material MATS ........could you adjust one of the MAT files to match Boyd's hair color?

Most of the hair shader sets rely on the way hair is typically mapped - maybe this one uses a very different mapping. Is anything happening at all when you apply the shader preset?

It doesnt have a strawberry blonde, just wild colors, yellow, brown and black. The yellow makes him look like Thor from the comic... Boyd’s hair is orangey yellow.

i think you are correct. I’ve never  a hair before with settings for tips and roots. When I apply the shader nothing  happens that I can see.

I’ll take a closer look at the surface tab tonight to see why.

Is it possible that this hair has been converted from a different format? I know I've seen an almost identical style around for a while. The one I'm talking about has been converted to several different games, to-or-from IMVU and possibly Second Life. I know several creators make stuff for different programs.

I had no problem using the UHT2 shaders on the Sanjay hair. It's shader domains don't seem to be set up any differently that any other hair. Did you apply the "Shader base Iray for hair only" first, before you tried to use a shader?

I don't know what I was smoking, but I tried it again, and the hair shader worked..So, I am wrong, it does take shaders... Here it is!

I'm curious if the Sanjay 8 pro bundle includes setting for henna colored hair. When I visited there were a few men and women that had bright orange or red hair except it was dyed somehow. I think the brightness was more evident on older people, maybe because the hair goes white. My sister said it had something to do with a particular status in that person's religion but I didn't ask what that meant in detail.

Sanjay hair has some unsual settings. I doubt it is specifically setup for henna but the look is certainly achievable.

On the left are base hair colors. on the right are the tints.

In addition to those settings, you can also dye the roots and the tips.

It is a very complex hair set. It is almost a bit much for me. But then again, I like sort of natural hair colors.
