smoothing & Collision

I watched the toturial on smoothing and collision and my question relates to victoria 4. In the video it says to select a certain node and then apply smoothing tool. However when i do this and then go to parameters to adjust it I find that the tool only appears if i select the part as a whole ex i have to select whole shirt rather than shirt shoulder.

Because of this any smothing i do applies to whole. Same thing with collision if i select say shirt right shoulder as the collision Item collision settings will not take hold unless the whole shirt is selected. Please help anyone. I am using daz studio 4 pro.

This was an early change, as having to select a single bone as the collision target made the system work poorly for things like skjirts.
