Did some experimenting with various filters/layering...actually like the grittiness of the final pic...looks like they've been through a rough battle.

I have a quick update for anyone interested in the 3D printable Pirate Snub Fighter (R-41 Starchaser) as featured in The Mandalorian Season 3. I can now confirm that the prototype test print of this asset has now been completed without issue. All the parts fit together without any problems, and I'm happy to say the print came out looking great. So I'll now be looking at getting this ready to go to market. I may wait until I get some photos of the seperate parts, cured and primed, to show that aspect in the promotional material, but effectively this is good to go now. So I'll be getting the ball rolling and get this asset out the door and to you guys as swiftly as I can. In the meantime here are a couple of rough shots of the parts we have had printed. These wil look a lot cleaner once cured and primed, and the parts haven't been fully put together, as they'd be problematic to take apart before being cured, as being a resin print the parts are quite sticky before they get cured. Still, from these images you can get a good idea of what we have. More polished promo shots will be done when the parts are finished. We'll also be looking at rolling out STL files first, for those who have a 3D Printer, and can print the files themselves, and then we'll guage what the demand is for actual kits of the model, for those who don't have their own 3D Printer, and decide whether or not to offer that as an option too.

So once again, watch this space. The release of the Pirate Snub Fighter is now imminent.

    Cool

  • Nice work H!

  • Cheers guys. yes

Now for a last couple of promo shots showing the separate parts that make up the model, as things changed slightly during the printing process to optimise things for the printer volume size.

    DARK REY!

Once a Palpatine, always a Palpatine!

This is a fun little render (possibly less fun if you are a rebel) of what might have been had Rey actually turned to the dark side.

I rendered the image twice with different hair styles. The first time was with a simple ponytail, and the second was with a more classic Rey hair style. I’m still not entirely sure which one that I like best.

  • And now we finally have some pics of the cured and primed prototype to share with you all, so you can get an idea of what the final printed model looks like, and the size of the thing. I think it looks pretty impressive, but judge for yourself. Also included here is a last render of the component parts that go into building this thing.

Now it is all done and ready to go. I just need to figure out how to submit a product that doesn't need to match the requirments necessary to run in the Daz 3D engine.

The night before the Battle of Yavin...

There is a little prose piece that goes with this on my DeviantArt page, but I thought I'd just leave this here to make up your own conversation between these two on the evening before the Battle of Yavin.

  • Nice!

I would say, with the black and white sketch style version, it might be a good idea to go in there and do just a little post work on it. From the original colour version it looks like the blue shaft is a light source, so to translate that better in the black and white image, I'd say maybe give that detail a soft edged white core, that'll make it look more like a light source in black and white. Just a suggestion. Great image that could just use a little tweak.

    Awesome work.
