Phsics not working

I jusdt want to slide that stick into place in the sconce using rigid body physics. So I changed the motion thingy on the stick to physics and whacked the sim button, but nothing is happening?

    maybe too much friction?

    i guess so. i changed it to the metal prsset in effects. it slid right in.

     

    is there a way to freeze it?
